I can not express my thanks for the professionalism that oak lawn showed myself family and friends. I want highly recommend this wonderful group for any of your funeral needs!
I have used Oak Lawn Funeral Home more times than I ever wanted too, but they made the whole process extremely easy. They walk you through the paperwork and explain everything clearly. They type up the obituary and have you and anyone that’s with you to proofread it and check for errors before it’s printed. They have a beautiful selection of urns to choose from, especially the one I got for my husband with Blue Birds on it Everyone there is very kind and caring, they even sent me a text much later just to check on me and continued to offer condolences. They make the whole process as gentle as possible and I would highly recommend them to anyone!
Given the circumstances of what you go thru when someone passes, Oak Lawn definitely went above and beyond to make everything go as smooth and painless as possible. They were all very professional. Brittany was very helpful, patient, and caring. They made sure everything for the day we put my father to rest was perfect. I would suggest anyone that is preparing for that time or is having to make arrangement for a loved one that didn’t have any, to use Oak Lawn.
When my husband passed away in December, everyone from Oak Lawn were so compassionate and caring. They took their time with me and didn't rush anything. They continue to follow up and be sure I am ok.
Staff was very professional and caring during the loss of my Dad. They were responsive to questions and concerns throughout the process and have checked on us since the funeral to see if they could provide further services. Oak Lawn staff also directed us in getting a veteran marker for the grave and set it for us when it arrived shipped to them.
Oak Lawn was so amazing during our situation when our mother passed away and needed to be transported to KY. Everything was so easy with their help. We are so glad that we chose Oak Lawn to take care of our mother.
I live out of state and when my mother passed Oak Lawn had everything prepared and ready. They made themselves available for any questions and helped us through the process.
We love and appreciate all that you did for us. You were so considerate of our feelings and emotions at that time. Thank you for all your wonderful service.
I'm writing this review in the hopes I will help someone else have a better experience than my family and I had with Oak Lawn funeral home. I know when a loved one dies its stressful and reading funeral home reviews is the last thing on your mind but I hope this review is helpful in choosing the right place to take care of your loved ones. My mother died on Tuesday afternoon January 9th. My siblings and I were very emotional and someone mentioned using Oak Lawn since my mother's wishes were to be cremated. We arrived the next morning at Oak Lawn and were greeted at the door. We spoke with 2 men that morning who basically said the same scripted response. I understand that this is a stressful time and maybe my expectations are too high but for a company who has been in business for many years, we expected a more genuine response. We did the required paperwork and submitted my mother's obituary information. We were told that my mother's ashes would be placed in a black embossed box and were shown the box. Prior to leaving we offered to pay the bill as we hadn't located my mother's life insurance documents. We were told not to worry. Her online obituary was placed on Oak Lawn's website promptly but we did have to contact Oak Lawn to change it to my mother's preferred name liked mentioned previously and asked that typos and spelling errors be corrected typos and spelling errors were never corrected. On Friday, January 12th my mother's obituary information still had not been submitted to the Sparta Expositor. I called the paper on Friday morning, who stated they hadn't received the obituary notice. I promptly called Oak Lawn, who said they would fax my mother's obituary. Later that day, I called Oak Lawn once again as the obituary was still not submitted to the paper and I asked if it had anything to do with us not paying the bill. They informed us that they were closing early and asked if we could pay on Monday morning. We paid first thing on Monday, January 15th and then finally her obituary posted. We also listened daily to the radio for my mother's obituary. It wasn't until the following Thursday, 9 days later that it was finally read on the radio. On two separate occasions someone apologized for missing the Memorial Service when the Memorial service had not happened yet. They said they had called Oak Lawn and they gave them the wrong information. When we finally picked up my mother's ashes the box her ashes was placed in was secured with clear packing tape and a white sticker with her information on it and not the embossed lettering we were promised and seeing the packing tape was disheartening to say the least. My family and I would like everyone to know our experience and hope that someone reads this and makes an informed decision prior to choosing Oak Lawn and trusting them with your families remains.
