Bit of a trek from non-Algiers New Orleans but a pretty sizable playground. Lots of tunnels and ropes and bars to climb on which should keep a fairly wide age range of kids occupied. There's some shaded picnic tables but the nearest covered area lost its roof from high winds. Bathrooms were functional and reasonably clean.

Really nice and quiet good place to exercise or play.
It's a good place for older children not for toddlers. There's not much that a toddler can do out there they have to be assisted by an adult with every step which can get very tiresome
It's a quiet place to walk or bring the kids to play. The playground is beautiful, safe and new. It is well maintained with covered area seating. The track is decent and lined with trees. I wish the tennis courts were better kept.
Pretty nice park. There are cover table areas, a gym with a bathroom and basketball inside. A tennis court, as well as a large playground area for children to play. It's never too crowded, its comfortable and feels safe. I enjoy coming to this park to just hang out on beautiful days.
The park is in a great location. It is surrounded by a nice neighborhood, and an elementary school. It has a community center/gym, and a 1/2 mile walking trail that meanders around the park. It is very family friendly, with a playground for the kids, park benches, and exercise station areas for all to enjoy. I rated the park 4 stars instead of 5 stars because of the restroom availability. If the park staff are not present - the restrooms are not available/open.
Park overall is nice and mostly clean. Low rating because the park has had broken slides and pieces of plywood blocking off parts of the kids slides and tunnels. I understand things do break but it's been over 6 months and it doesn't look like things will be fixed.
Oakdale Park have significant chapter in my life.. start training there in 2002.. became national champion in 100 m in 2013.. of course self coached... So many ups and downs there.. beautiful place.. but it's best when I look up and see my sister jody surprising me.. I've even walked to this park with my mother.. I remember the parakeets. I thought they were awesome. This place have a significant meaning special chapter in my life..
This park can get crazy busy at all hours of the day. Located on the Westbank of New Orleans and off of Wall Blvd, Oakdale park is a nice place to relax, work out or visit. It has all the important elements to be a great park for the entire family and friends and for the community as a whole. There's a large track to walk or jog and calisthenic bars scattered all around for the health conscious. The kids play ground is modern with lots of slides and climbing to make sure the children can stay active and safe in an open environment. There's plenty of parking and some street parking available also. There's a soft ball field for those participating in the leagues and gazebos around for those eating and grilling. The only thing I don't like is the loitering of the unsavory types in the parking lots. Especially when it gets dark outside. We all come to a park to unite and socialize, play and do it for the youths and our own health benefits. A park should always be a happy place not a one where it's intimidating or if you hesitate if it's too dangerous to bring your kids around.
