The Oakland Fire Department is located in the State of Maine, approximately 20 miles north of Augusta, our state capital. In 2010, the Oakland Fire Department responded to 914 Fire, EMS, and Rescue calls from two stations, utilizing 28 call/ volunteers, career Fire Chief, 2 engines, 2 pumper/tankers, 1 ladder truck and our BLS rescue unit. Our dedicated members continue to respond from work and home protecting a primary response area of approximately 27 square miles, with a population of 6,333 residents. Regionally, mutual aid is regularly given to and received by a minimum of six other fire departments and EMS providers.
It is the mission of the Oakland Fire Department to be proactive in protecting the lives and property in our community from fire, medical, and environmental emergencies, while continually meeting or exceeding the expectations of the citizens who live, work, or recreate in our community.
