I went to this locally owned restaurant for the first time in September of 2023. I got me a breakfast plate for my first visit and it was really tasty! Now I wanna try some lunch and dinner items next time I go.
My family is on a mini vacation in the area and decided to try Oakwood Cafe for dinner tonight based on menu and previous reviews. It was exactly what we were wanting - casual, home style food. We were impressed that our food came out really fast! Service was good. Food tasted fresh and we all got our favorites. Three of us had dinner, drinks, and dessert for about $50.
Food is alright and consistent. Kinda a busy place. A little loud. But nothing to deter you from eating hereFood: 4/5

We love this place, the food, the friendly servers and the price . Ate there twice while we're in town. We had fried pork chops, smoked pork tenderloin, baked chicken and chicken fingers. They were delish. The sides and corn bread are delicious as well. Love love this place.

Step back in time, lunch place for locals and lucky tourists. Faster service than chain fast food! Delicious chicken and dumplings, greens, and black-eyed peas. And, reasonably priced.Food: 5/5
The food is fine; it's not great. It's consistency is nice as it's very rare things will be bad. If you're looking for great food though, there are many other options there. For lunch I had chicken tenders that tasted like they had been frozen. While served warm, the texture was rubbery. My wife had the hamburger steak and it was very dry. It tasted bland and as though it had been made in advanced. The sides were much better and seemed to help make up for the rest. Service was also fine.
I read the reviews before I stopped in this place for dinner. I have to say, I am very surprised how good the food was. The young lady in pig tails was very attentive and friendly. She was also working her butt off. Whole staff seemed on point of excellent customer service, even the young ones. Had the chicken and dumplings mashed potatoes and green beans and all was very tasty. Also taking a banana pudding to go. Prices were very cheap for what you get!!! I have definitely found a gem when I come through for business.
