When Nathan Taylor and J Martin opened Obelisk Home in 2008, they both had strong backgrounds in retail and home furnishings—Nathan had been doing design work and owned two retail stores in Texas, and J was a manufacturing representative for Sherrill Furniture Company. That experience—and their uncanny ability to keep a strong relationship going even while working together all day—made it possible for their home design empire to take shape.

The two own a family of companies. BridgeBlue Sourcing Partners designs and manufactures home décor for major retailers and wholesale companies. Unleashed Life creates upscale, high-design pet bowls, beds, home accents, paintings and more; the line is distributed through North and South America, Asia and Europe. Obelisk Home, the company’s retail venue, offers services that include furniture, lighting, accessories, antiques, fabrics, art and design services.

Obelisk Home is known for giving architecturally traditional homes a youthful energy and sophistication with their fresh take and trained eye. We artfully mix periods, styles and moods, bringing an eclectic mix to our projects and ever-changing merchandise.

Our design services extend from concept to completion and are only limited by our client’s imagination. We can be instrumental in bringing our clients vision to reality.

Giving
The Taylor-Martin companies support a broad range of local organizations including The Hamels Foundation, Ronald McDonald Houses of the Ozarks, Springfield Black Tie, The GLO Center, Habitat for Humanity, The Humane Society, Developmental Center of the Ozarks, Cox Health Foundation, The Kitchen and others. We are passionate about supporting the local art community and always have local art displayed in the store. By hosting such events as Artwalk and fundraising efforts for Habitat for Humanity and the Humane Society, we’re able to market the store while giving opportunity to local artists.

Family
The Taylor-Martin Family of Companies is a space where employees feel like part of the family, and everyone’s allowed to bring their dog to work. The whole team even gets together for family dinners, too. Nathan and J. say they feel it’s important that employees feel at home and comfortable and happy at work. And they agree that they want their employees to have living environments that inspire creativity as well, which is why they help their employees with their home design.
