The Department of Ocean, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences (OEAS), founded at Old Dominion University in 1969, has a mission to acquire and disseminate knowledge of the earth system, including the relationships among the biological, chemical, geological and physical components of our planet. The Department has established an expertise in ocean margin processes, coastal system processes and couples quantitative models. OEAS has a diverse faculty with broad-ranging interests, and offers a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Ocean and Earth Science, Master of Sciences degree in Ocean and Earth Science, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Oceanography.
