Great place to be any time of day! Great trails for walking and exploring and being in nature. I’ve seen all kinds of wildlife - bunnies, deer, raccoons, and so many different kinds of birds. There is some road noise but other than that, it’s a peaceful oasis in the Seacoast! Dogs are unfortunately not allowed. Playground: Decent playground for young ones or those young at heart! Restrooms: Check website for hours and seasons for restrooms.
This is such a beautiful beach. We went on a Saturday kind of early in the season- mid-May- and there was hardly anyone there. Lots of tidepools to look into, and thousands upon thousands of snails. It must have been mating season for them, it was really cool! There are nice trails and a playground and picnic tables and benches conveniently located throughout.
Loved this park, lots of well-groomed walking trails that help you to explore the Fort Dearborn, an old WWII fort. There is so much history and beauty with a great park for kids, picnic tables, and even a food truck. We spent a good amount of time walking all the trails and the sea life center, which also had a wonderful exhibit showcasing the history of the park. Great for families and any natural explorer. Wonderful views of Portsmith Harbor and Whaleback Lighthouse. Playground: Equipment that made me want to go frolic and play. Cute ocean themed equipment for some items. Picnic area: Views overlooking the water so pretty.
Very rocky and very beautiful. It is the perfect beach. One son loves tidal pools. The other son loves the ocean but hates the sand. Needless to say, both were happy and literally had to be dragged to the car. Picnic tables, playground, and an ocean breeze. No need to travel further.
Nice discovery for us! We went through the Science Center, reading informational plaques, watching videos, observing large aquariums of Maine and New Hampshire fish- did you know black sea bass stand on their fins?--skates, lobsters. Anemones. Seahorses, jellyfish. The exhibits and grounds were full of happy young campers.
This was an AMAZING location. So much history, so much ocean. I loved hiking this trail and will be back soon. We spent over 2 hours in the woods/trail here. Trails marked well. People were super friendly. Peaceful location. I didn't want to leave.
What a beautiful spot to just sit and look at the incredible scenery or take a nice long walk...find the secluded beaches... senior citizens get in free!!! Great food truck..ROOTS CAFE....clean bathroom....Go early and stay late!!!
Great park for kids and good hiking paths throughout. The only draw back was the hard to read historic information signs. They were hard to read because of poor upkeep. Also you could not go in the bunkers. I would still go again
My favorite place to kayak, hike, bike, walk and explore the sea shore. This place has it all. History, scince, playground, exploration, relaxation and more. Just step out side to explore the world surrounding you or stop on in to the scince center to learn about the animals, fish and more that live a few feet away. I can't recomend this place enough. The small fee is well worth it.
Awesome park with wooded area and lots of oceanfront views, not great swiming but you can. Rocky shore. Very large lots of history former army base.
