Stopped in there today. Owner is the nicest guy and will give you a good deal. Prices are very reasonable and he has a great selection of vinyl and equipment. Will definitely go back often.
Stopped by for the first time. They have a decent selection of vinyl. Prices were fantastic! Chris the owner was very pleasant. I would definitely recommend this shop. I do plan on going back.
Arrived on a Friday afternoon at 1pm only to find they were closed... EDIT: I see the owner replied, and I would like to clarify, I posted this review about 2 weeks after I arrived to find them closed. I did not give the specific date you were closed, but since you replied I'll let you know it was Friday February 1 that you were closed. Not the closet Friday to when I posted my review. And yes I was at the current location!
Off the Beaten path is by far one of the best record stores that I have been to. The owner is probably one of the nicest and most helpful guys. I would recommend this place over Bulls eye across the street, OTBP has a way better selection, better prices, and a way more helpful/knowledgeable staff. The only down side is that this store does not presses of new bands
Was just here for the first time. Dope spot, good collection, organized, cool vibe and Chris seems like a good guy. Equipment looks nice, great prices, I'll definitely be back. Glad this place is around.
Edited almost an entire year later 2017... I drove all the way from Chicago and they are closed... two whole hours before they are supposed to be. They were not open when they said they'd be. I really wanna like this place but this isn't making it easy. Now granted I did not drive all this way just to visit the record store but is definitely at the top of my list. No more... edited a day after the fact: 2016 after making the above review they reached out to me which is admirable. In fact I even said I'd delet this, but then I had to think about other folks who could be affected; the other folks who travel a long distance. I think its still fair and in my heart the right thing to do in warning folks that yes... this place is a badass record store... but do call ahead, maybe arrive an hour after opening hours and before closing hours just to be on the safe side. They said they'd be open at 11am and I got there around 11:30 and waited for 15 minutes... I left for all I knew they were closed for the whole day. Maybe its just my Chicago nature and I'm not used to "Milwaulkee" hours? I don't mean that in a joking way. Maybe there is a cultural difference here?
This place has a great selection of records and audio equipment. Good place to find a new turntable or receiver. They replaced the belt on my turntable for cheap.
Stopped in for Record store days and picked up 30 used albums for cheap. Proprietor was knowledgeable and friendly. Vintage equipment is for sale here as well.
If you're looking for a cool record store, this is the place for you. Really cool space they have in here, so definitely a place worth visiting for Record Store Day and other record store runs.
This LOOKS like a nice record store but I can't really say because on the two occasions that I have come by to browse it's been closed in spite of posted hours. So yes, to echo a previous review posted here, it's probably not a good idea to travel far to come here unless you call ahead and make sure they are actually going to be open...
