Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA)

About

We open the doors to an affordable place to call home by helping Ohioans with low- to moderate-incomes purchase homes or find quality, affordable housing.

Description

The Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) facilitates the development, rehabilitation and financing of low- to moderate-income housing. The Agency also funds fixed-rate mortgage loans to help Ohioans purchase homes. OHFA’s programs serve home buyers, renters, senior citizens and other populations with specific needs.

The Agency also helps property managers maintain safe, affordable housing environments through its compliance programs. OHFA monitors more than 1,000 multifamily properties throughout the state to ensure residents have a quality place to live.

In addition, OHFA administers the state’s foreclosure prevention program, Save the Dream Ohio. Funded by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Hardest Hit Fund, the program was created to help Ohio homeowners who are struggling to make their monthly house payments or facing foreclosure due to a financial hardship.

Since its creation, OHFA has made affordable mortgage loans to more than 143,000 Ohioans and facilitated the creation of more than 89,000 affordable rental housing units.

Do not go this route. They told me if I sold the house before the 7 years was up that they would prorate what was left. After 3 years I had to sell due to circumstances beyond my control. I had to pay the entire amount. They will lie to your face to get the money. The old bait and switch. I even had it in writing. Their excuse was that the lady who told me AND wrote it out had made a mistake and that there was nothing they could do. Making up the rules as they go
The OHFA is just another corrupt government agency who is ripping off the tax payors. They are supposed to insure affordable housing developers follow by federal regulations but all they do is cover up violations by these developers. It's the tenants of these properties they are hurting the most. They are even putting some of their lives at risk by continuing to ignore severe code violations with these properties. The OHFA has only continued to hand our hard earned tax dollars to slumlord developers like Homeport and it's not going to stop until they are investigated. Be careful when dealing with this agency.
They're absolutely unprofessional . I have had to call them 107 times once before to get the call answered , because they all get pushed to a recording . Today alone I had to call 52 times to get an answer ! They've been beating around the bush about helping my family members with their home mortgage for EIGTH MONTHS & still have not given a response . We have done every single thing they have asked of us , & they still claim to not be able to do anything , even when we have written proof of them stating they would handle it . There has been ONE PERSON in their entire company who has given actual help , & I had to threaten the BBB to get that . I have been hung-up on multiple times by someone named Mary there , & been denied when asked for a supervisor . This company deserves to be shut down for malpractice .
Considering it’s extremely hard to get ahold of these people got approved for help but my mortgage company is saying nothing has been paid… so who’s lying? Update: After finally getting a update things sent to be solved..
These people are very unprofessional and none of them do their jobs. Nobody here should have a customer service job, especially with their disgusting attitudes. This place is supposed to help people and they do nothing but cause them to go further in debt!
Didn’t actually do any business with this establishment; However, I was minding my own business, and decided to take a selfie as I was happening to walk by. Guard working the morning shift, on March 29, 2021, decided that selfie’s were a no no. I politely deleted the photos in front of him, and inquired where I could look up the laws for photography in the state, and was told I was gonna be arrested if he sees me again. Mind you that I’m new to Ohio, which is why I asked about the law. Don’t know how people are treated up here, but I do believe that was a bit rude‍
Amazing service and experience. Saved my family’s life
