It is the intent of the Healthy Start legislation to establish a system which guarantees that all women have access to prenatal care and that all infants have access to services that promote normal growth and development. In Okeechobee County, this Coalition believes that all women and children (up to 3rd birthday) should have access to services which promote the health and well being of these county residents.
Direct Services to clients: education on parenting, childbirth, breastfeeding, car seat safety, nutrition and smoking cessation. Care Coordination, Psychosocial/Grief counseling, Medicaid Outreach, Transport (when funds allow), Educational Baby Showers, On Track (program addressing repeat teen pregnancy prevention), SIDS education and shaken baby awareness, MomCare (medicaid funded). ALL SERVICES ARE FREE.
