This place shouldn’t even get one star! DO NOT EAT HERE! Don’t eat here! The service is terrible! Everyone else has their meal and 30 minutes later 2 of us still waiting for our pizza, almost total time of one hour now for a pizza! We will not be back Old Chicago 10 more minutes and still no pizza! The manager finally brings our pizza and we have put in a box, we have waited for over an hour and the f_ing bacon is burnt we find out after we leave! If we had known that it was burned we would never have accepted it! She knew the pizza was burnt and boxed it up anyway! Most burnt so bad it taste terrible Just talked to the manager and she says bacon is suppose to be extra crispy! Didn’t know bacon burnt until Black is now extra crispy!
We have been to this location several times with no problems. However, our last visit was not good. It was almost empty at dinner time on a Saturday. Very slow service, I asked for lemon several times, never got it. We placed our order, 25-30 minutes later we were told they were out of the appetizer we ordered. It was another 25 minutes before our dinner arrived, my salad was smaller than usual and was ice cold. My husband was told his fries weren’t ready. After 10 minutes we had to ask for them.
Service is hit or miss. This past Saturday it was big hit! Our server Tony was a refreshing change from the normal here. Really nice guy, very polite professional and helpful. Most importantly he interacted directly with me and my girlfriends kids. They loved him. Any parent knows that the way to our heart is through our kids. Tony got that. Pizza was delicious as always and the restaurant was busy but not overwhelming. We never felt rushed and never felt like an inconvenience. We saw our server helping 3 other tables but we never felt neglected, we felt like the only people in the place. Great food and great service we will be back!
So, positives first. The wait staff was accommodating and kind. However, that's it. I love Old Chicago, but will never go back to this location. The food was slow, despite the restaurant not being super busy. The food was also not very good.. The fries tasted as if they were fried in 2-3 day old oil, and my pub pizza was undercooked. I returned it, and it still came back significantly undercooked. We'll eat somewhere else when returning to the Southlands Mall.
Food generally good, but onion rings tonight were cold. Had to wait 55 minutes to get our order. Some crazy story about not being seated immediately, because the wait staff needed a little more time? Makes no sense. One table close to us left because it was taking so long to get food. Not what it used to be. This is bad management! Used to be a great place to go, but never again. And, isn't it odd that all the Old Chicago's near me have less than a 4 star rating. Makes you wonder why they are still in business. Plenty other places to go where the service is better.
We had an awful experience tonight that was not made better by the manager. We were seated by the kitchen and a male employee slammed the door every time he went in and out. I understand that everyone has bad days, but this was like passive aggressive and uncomfortable. The door would slam against the back of my booth seat when he exited the kitchen and against the wall so hard it could be heard and felt when he went back in. After spending our entire dinner patiently enduring this he came by and slammed a bunch of plates down on the shelf next to us. We asked to see the manager, who promptly came and apologized for our experience and offered us a round of complimentary drinks. Well, the check came but not the drinks. The door kept getting slammed. When I asked the waitress about our complimentary drinks she had to go check on them, and when they finally came out they tasted filled with soap. I'm at home now, and I still taste soap in my mouth. We certainly will never be going back.
We really liked this place the first time we went there, however things have gone down hill ever since. Our order is very rarely correct; there is a big difference between cheese pizza and a supreme, but they can't seem to figure it out. The last time we were there, the staff was supremely happy that they got our order correct, except for the fact that the pizza dough was still raw; I thought it was melted cheese at first. This place has a great atmosphere and I really really wish the food was good, but each time I think about going to Old Chicago... I lose my appetite.
Very disappointed in the service this evening. Manager was completely unprofessional. We had asked twice about the complimentary beer for the Rockies stealing a base. The waitress brought pints in error, when we asked about it the manager came over plopped down beside me an said What kind of free beer can I get you? Then explained that what we had ordered wasn’t the 10 ounce that was free. First do not talk to me in a condescending way. You should have apologized for the error and took the beers off the bill. I am the customer and deserve to be spoken to with respect - do not sit down next to me like we are friends and speak to me with attitude. You should go to manager training at Lazy Dog. Have never been disappointed there.
So we walk in and it's somewhat busy but no one waiting in line. Two people talking at the front computer who definitely saw but it took five minutes for either of them to acknowledge our existence just to say sorry someone will be with you soon. Then another person comes by and says the same thing. Ten minutes later we sit down. Not too long our server comes takes our drink orders and comes back fairly quickly with drinks. This is where we order two salads wings and grilled chicken meal for my daughter. After this was ordered we got our salads about five minutes later and then took another 35 minutes to receive our wings. At which my starving still does not have her meal. Why would you bring out food when only half of the whole order is ready. What is going on? Our server tried to apologize saying it's because the chicken had to be grilled. Uhhhhh no way this pathetic. If it wasn't for my child I would have got up and walked out this is not acceptable.
Long negative review, primarily directed at senior management 0 out of 5 stars. I have been to this location several times with friends and this establishment has always provided good service and quality food and drink....until this one time. I was in a party of four entered around 2:00 PM, our server was Sara. We sat down and did not receive our initial greeting until 15 minutes later, we ordered our drinks and appetizers, we attempted to order our main entrees and the waitress told us that we would need to wait until she attended to another table. We waited at least 25 minutes until the server returned offering us free tastings on beer, this was nice as we were waiting for our appetizers still. We then received our appetizers 10 minutes or so later then followed by our tasters and placed our main entrees. We then waited for close to if not an hour until Sara returned and placed her check book on the table and proceeded to tell us "Guys, I cant seem to find your order anywhere, did we take your order?" We awkwardly then re-ordered our entrees and she threw in that it is totally on her and she would comp our meals and that usually it is the kitchens fault but this time it was hers. I got up to use the restroom about 10-15 minutes later as I approached the bathrooms I walked passed our server who was talking to her counterpart telling her that "I totally forgot to place my tables order over an hour ago." I was dumb founded and proceeded to the restroom. Upon exiting I asked her fellow waitress if I could speak to the manager because that was my table she had neglected and I did not want to pay for any of my tab for the sheer lack of service. About 5 minutes later Sara returned to the table without food and proceeded to tell us that she had comped our food and could not relieve anything else on our tab...still no manager present. I could not hold my tongue and told Sara that I found it alarming that she originally told me she was unsure that our order was taken, yet I walk past her as she told her co-worker that she had completely forgotten. Sara cut me off saying that loosing and forgetting were semantics. I told Sara that I am not trying to argue with her that I would just like to eat. She told the table that the kitchen is rushing our order and was not apologetic and pretty much ended the conversation, we ordered another round of drinks since we were out and had no food on the table. We then waited for another 20-25 minutes until our food arrived from another waitress who was very polite and courteous. The food was...delicious. Until my wife found a stirring stick at the bottom of her mac-n-cheese. This was not a world breaking event but it is a little concerning. I then had to track down a buss boy and asked him if he could send a manager to the round booth which we were seated at. He was very polite and within 2 minutes a gentleman approached the table and by his uniform he appeared to be a kitchen lead/manager. He was very understanding of the issue, he brought my wife a take home portion of a alfredo chicken pasta which was more than we expected and told us he would speak to our waitress about the prior instances. We totally understand how busy a restaurant can become and how stressful it can be on the staff but I think that anyone who reads this review will agree that Sara's performance and resolution to our issues were completely unprofessional and flat out disrespectful. Own up to your mistakes and make the corrective actions to fulfil your job responsibilities. We entered around 2PM and did not leave until roughly 4:30PM not by choice I am highly disappointed in Old Chicago and we never saw a floor or shift manager during this entire interaction. The kitchen lead/manager was very respectful and I wish I caught his name to give him the props for taking the lead and offering a real solution to the issues that we experienced. We will likely never return and go across the street to the other establishments.
