Nice little park with the remains of an old fort. A short ways down the street is a History Museum with displays on the old settlement 1788 that was started here called New Smyrna. The museum had exhibits on Smyrna Beach and Surfing as well. Walk further down the street and there is an area called The Hub where local artists display and sell their art work. You can talk to them while they work, take classes and learn new skills.
Nice little park in town. The fort ruins are an interesting site. There are also a few markers for other historic buildings that stood on the land. Worth a quick stop if you're in the area.
This was a very interesting site to visit. Had no idea it was there or of its history.
What a wonderful little park! I sat and read a book while having a picnic under a Massive Willow Oak tree. It was paradise. Later I wandered over to the Old Fort itself which dates back almost 300 years. It is an amazing structure that has stood the rest of time. Very cool! The view of the Marina on the Intercoastal Waterway is so placating and just 1 mile to the beautiful beach side of New Smyrna.
Quaint park located between the river and heavily trafficked streets. I went on a 4 mile walk to check this place out and admit it wasn’t the destination I thought it would be. The space and ruins weren’t overwhelming. If you are in the area or have time to kill your should stop by, but again, I didn’t feel it was worth my 4 miles lol. Nice green space, it seems the history of the place is known but the locals dispute it.
I just happen to be down at canal Street during the festival and then I decided to check out the area. I've never been down here before. I knew there was some kind of something up here and I thought I would find more information about it but I did not find a plaque quite interesting just to look at. A little history would have been nice. Check it out :-! I just always find it interesting that somebody way before I even thought of was there whether it was during a war battle of whatever the case may be, I find that intriguing.
I like the park , it brings back memories of being a kid and going to the movie theater on Canal St. It's alot nicer than when I was younger. There's 2 plaques with some of N.S.B. history on them, many benches to sit on. You can bring your dog but they must be on a leash and you have to clean up after them.
Nice little spot overlooking a big body of water. Also overlooking the marina here in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Great place to take pictures and to have a peaceful stroll with the family. Never crowded and the NSB police station/municipal complex is about 50ft directly across the street, so going here at night with the family is safe. Just be careful traversing the concrete pillars and big holes-this landmark is hundreds of years old after all. Overall a short but fun experience.
Wow what a beautiful park, surrounded by huge oak trees greatly landscape, great park for an outdoors event, located across the New Smyrna City Hall, in the heart of the New Smyrna downtown, the old fort is a great place to visit, while you do that you will be able to feel the breeze and the beach ambiance, wonderful blue skies, a most see if you're visiting.
Nice little park. Not much to it but the "fort" is cool to look at. They let you walk and climb on the fort even though it's a historic Monument which was neat.
