Old Silver Book was the city of Anderson’s second city cemetery. The first is located downtown, adjacent to the Presbyterian Church, which now owns and cares for that cemetery. In establishing Silver Book (the “Old” was not added until the creation of New Silver Brook, a more recent perpetual-care type facility), Anderson’s fathers had two goals: 1) to provide the citizens of the city a larger place to bury their dead; 2) to use part of the property for a park. The first goal was more successful and I am unsure how much of the park ever developed.
