Old Six Mile Museum

Description

The Emmert-Zippel property, a typical farmstead, has a significant past and represents the historic heritage of our community. The farmhouse is being preserved as a museum and occupies the oldest structure in Granite City. The home was built in 1837 by William Emmert, a pioneer, horticulturist, and racehorse owner. The furnishings, which have been donated by pioneer and Victorian families, are from the same historic period and geographical area in which the Emmerts lived from 1837-1884.
This museum shows how each room has been furnished with period pieces of antique furniture and displays smaller articles that are used in each room.
