What a find! Picked this gem off Google maps. The staff was so nice. And the food was so good. I got the TRAVIS’ TASTER Travis doesn’t like eggs, but he likes his sweets and sandwiches. When he’s in town, he likes to have a sausage and cheese sandwich on an English muffin with home fries and a short stack of Cinnamon Crisp. Then he has a large juice instead of coffee. The cinnamon crisp was so good! And the potatoes were perfect. My cousin got an omelette... Her plate was full of sunshine. I would def come back. I can see why it's a local favorite.
The waitress was really friendly. The food didn’t have anything that would stand out.Food: 3/5
Best breakfast in New London. Great Omelettes and great Chicken Fried Steak. Staff is very friendly and the food comes out fast. Every is made from scratch. 8/17/2023-Drove to Connecticut again this year and had to come back for the chicken fried steak. Ate breakfast on Tuesday, and ordered 2 "Chicken fried steaks" to take home to NY this morning, but when we got home we got a regular steak and eggs breakfast. I'm sure it's very good, but we come there especially for the Chicken fried steak which you can't find on LI. And I was VERY disappointed when I got home. I told "Jared M" over the phone how much we love the Chicken fried steak and how we come there only for that. I must have said Chicken fried steak 4 times over the phone. He should pay more attention when taking orders. I still love "Old Tymes" and will be back next time I'm in Connecticut.
The Cinnamon Crisp is a must try!! So good!! All the food we got was great. Service was good too!
Great food... Great service I wish we didn't live so far away. Hope to visit again next time we're in the area.Food: 5/5
7.23.22 our 1st time and we loved this old tymes venue because big parking area, friendly staff, good food especially that deep fried cinnamon French toast, oh my goodness it was yum, and it was a nice change of pace from the typical new breakfast cafes. This restaurant has character.
I've been going here when I'm in town since I was a kid. I get the same thing every time. A western omelet. The egg this time was as thin as paper. The ham , green pepper, and onions were ground up. Instead of chunks. And no cheese. The flavor was blan. And the entrance steps had grass growing out of them. All I can guess is the old owners sold it or passed. Because they cared about this place very much.
We vacationed in the area and took my mom and her husband to breakfast here. The atmosphere was very nice and our waitress was very good as well. The food was awesome as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.Food: 5/5
The food was amazing! Loved my egg Benedict; the Hollandaise sauce was my favorite! Others loved their Turkey club, Ruben sandwich, Western omelette, and Phil’s Phyne. Everything was delicious and well made. We will definitely be back for another delicious brunch. Thank you!
Food: really good. Three of us went for lunch. One of us had a buffalo chicken wrap, one had a turkey club, and I had the fried chicken sandwich. In general the food was really good. My chicken sandwich had an enormous glob of mayonnaise on it, which was really gross, but easily scraped off. Both the buffalo chicken tenders and the fried chicken on my sandwich were hand battered and fried and we're absolutely delicious. Definitely a reason to go back. Service: okay, but nice. When the server asked if we were ready to order, we said yes and then she walked away and didn't come back for 10 minutes, and we saw her take two other tables orders. When we ordered, my boyfriend ordered a cup of soup instead of french fries, which was completely ignored and he received french fries. One person asked for no coleslaw, so none of us got any, even though all our sandwiches were supposed to come with fries and coleslaw. The staff was really nice, but definitely not in a hurry, and may not have understood us when we asked for things. Atmosphere: very country. Many American flags, lots of "down home" Americana vintage decor, country music on all the time. The vibe was kind of redneck, conservative, Trump-country-ish. If you are non-white or non-cis-hetero it could feel a bit unsafe to go in by yourself. If the management wanted to signal to everyone that they welcome all people, they could replace a couple American flags out front with a pride flag or a trans flag, or mix in some different styles of music with the country music. Then again, if you're not welcoming to other groups of people, you're probably doing a good job of keeping many of them away already. Parking: Plenty of parking. Dietary restrictions: Make sure to be super clear if you have dietary restrictions. We asked for a few modifications and they didn't happen. So my boyfriend who is not supposed to eat a lot of oil ended up with a plate full of french fries that he couldn't eat.
