The location is beautiful. That is what the 3 stars is for. The woman who runs the office is not a nice person at all. All they care about is money. They do not care about people. I guess they know people want to come for the location so they don't have to treat people with any kindness. It just affects the experience and leaves me feeling like a little like I want to take a shower after dealing with people like that. Clearly this campground got sold and is under new ownership and either they are the ones running it also or whomever they hired to run it no longer have the same personal and friendly vibe that previous ones did. We had our family reunion here for years. It is night and day difference with our experience with the office staff. We are rethinking if we will even have it here again after all these years of being loyal campers and customers. I am willing to spend more somewhere else to be treated with the dignity and kindness all people deserve to be treated with.
We were evacuated from our home in Georgetown CA due to the Mosquito Fire. We called Olema Campground and told them our situation and they were very accommodating. We had camped there a few years back and remembered it as being a family and pet friendly campground. The staff was very friendly and helpful during our stay. The campground was very well kept and the bathrooms were always clean. They had showers and a laundry facility which was great to have. They allow dogs which was also a big plus since we have a golden retriever that we had to bring along with us. I would highly recommend this campground to all our friends.
Anticipating traffic, I arrived an hour early on Nov 4th. 2022 for 2 nights. I was checked in at noon, but was told not to go to my campsite until 1 pm even though there was no one there. Then, they locked and closed the office as soon as I got out. I saw lots of people waited outside while eating lunch in front of the closed office. Great power control. This campground is okay for me. I've been to fantastic campgrounds by the coast in the last 2 decades. Most sites have electric and water in the back. Front sites have full hook up, but it's so tight next to another site, why even camp. There are tent sites as well. This place is a mile away from Pt. Reyes Bear Valley Visitors Center. The drive to the ocean is far. Backpacking in Pt Reyes is way better, but if you can't backpack, find another campground along the coast. This is a flat campground. Some campers threw their trash on top of the trash bin. Restrooms have flush toilet. No bear, but lots of Raccoon. Keep an eye on your food at all times day and night. They have a very weak free wifi service. Dog friendly, but watch your step. Most outdoorsy owners don't pick up their dog poop. I don't have to go here anymore. Some people love this place, but it's just not for me. No photos. I'll just end up showing grass and a few trees on a flat area.
This campground was good... Wish it had more trees, but the bathroom was great! Clean and good showers. We were only there for the night
Quiet, clean and peaceful. Walking distance to food. Driving to hikes very close. Campfires allowed. This campground is a must if you want to enjoy Point Reyes
Wonderful campground except for a tick crawled onto the top mesh of my tent with blazing fast speed and stayed there until I carefully removed it despite its exceptional grip and threw it into the campfire. It might explain why the next tent’s dog kept barking last night.
Easy access for all vehicles, nice sized sites, convenient facilities. The only negative we had was near-constant harassment by yellowjackets. Store is small, so don't plan on using it for anything but basics.
[Bike/Hike review] Positives: - Friendly staff - Quiet location - Close to Point Reyes Station - Well maintained Negatives: - A bit pricey for bike+hike spots at 42 USD but this is common for private campsites - No raccoon boxes
Nice campground in pt Reyes area. Nothing to special about it tho. Get there before 5 if you need anything like firewood although there's a store in pt Reyes about 3 miles north.
Liked this campground. Good size spots. Little store, post office and laundromat at the campground if you need it. Nice playground for kids and dog run for your dogs. Stayed here a couple of times. Quiet and clean. About 20 minutes to the nearest beach.
