I left today in tears. I always overthink and tell myself I’m being dramatic when it comes to me being sick. A week ago I went to urgent care because I was throwing up and I couldn’t keep anything down. They were so sweet to me there and told me to contact my primary dr if it continues. So a week later after a particularly rough night I called in for help. The front desk nurses was so sweet to me and I was very optimistic walking in there. When my nurse practitioner walked in it all kinda changed. I didn’t get to tell her everything and what very little was said I felt as if it was pushed aside. I know they’re very busy and Im sure me being a same day appt didn’t help things. But by the end of it I felt very small and unheard. I would stick to urgent care or maybe another dr office if you know you’ll need to make same day appts a lot.
Roughly 3 months of being a patient here after transfering care. I have improved a lot for the little time I've been under my doctors care katlyn corpe. I'm currently a full time student & working roughly 30 hours per wk, so my health is VERY essential. She does listen to my concerns and we can usually meet in the middle. Able to slowly develop both a safe and effective plan trial & error, proper communication, being HONEST. Please make sure you stay on top of your stuff checking for Apts, consulting with your doctor, etc these are apart of your responsibilities as well. Medications, therapy, and knowledge manifesting into action is the key, after all ;It is YOUR health : !! I would definitely recommend Open Door Health in Muncie, Indiana! 2 pictures; they say a picture can speak a million words. If you're align yourself; spiritually, mentally, & physically... You can become more confident, organized, and ready to move forward in life. you.. can call me chase, but I am.. Chasen dreams
I switched/transferred out of open door prenatal care at 36 weeks pregnant and am so glad I did. I would have done it a lot sooner, pretty much shortly after I started being seen there, if I'd known that was an option. I didn't go to any doctors for the first 6 months of my pregnancy for fear of this kind of treatment. No one needs or deserves the extra stress of "medical professionals" you're supposed to be able to trust making up diagnosis and creating hypothetical problems you don't actually have whether you're pregnant or not. The only positive to come out of the situation was being sent to perinatal/high risk at Ball, who quickly ruled out that I didn't have what open door claimed I had. They're wildly and boldly irresponsible, there's no accountability, no communication- and if they're going to behave like that for prenatal care just imagine what that means for labor/delivery or god forbid if you have actual valid complications along the way. Hard pass for me. I even had to sign for transfer of care and to have my medical records transferred to a new practice, which they still have not sent 3-4 weeks later. They operate like a business who just successfully paid their bills by taking advantage of me and my insurance and treating me like I wasn't worth their time. Trust your gut and advocate for yourself!
Super unimpressed by these people. Called the office and specifically asked if me and my 3 children had to be seen I'm a patient, my 3 kids are not in order to get prescription medication for what we had to be seen for because the over the counter medication wasn't working. I was specifically told that I and my 3 children would have to come be seen, however they told me they would talk to my Pcp there and get back to me but that I'd most likely have to go to the urgent care instead to get a prescription. I was waiting on them contacting me like they said they would but instead Went to urgent care after not hearing from anyone for 2 days. Went to urgent care today and after massive amounts of paperwork, sitting and waiting for a long period of time and then being seen by AN EXTREMELY RUDE Dr he informed me that a prescription had already been called in. So I wasted ALL my time today, my gas and was extremely embarrassed because I was not reached out to and properly informed of the presiciptions that were already called in. NOT A HAPPY MOMMA RN!! I don't place the blame on my pcp but on the office people who clearly dropped the ball here!!
My wife was seen as a new patient and we were very clear that we had limited finances and were choosing Open Door because it is supposed to be a more affordable option. They never told us any pricing for the visit, but ordered some lab work done and told us “someone will work with you”. Since the visit we have been trying over a month to get in touch with someone we could speak to about our finances but keep being told “someone will call you”. While waiting for this mysterious “someone” we get the bill in the mail. $400 just for speaking to a nurse practitioner. And it would have another $1,000 to have the lab work done they ordered. Needless to say we cancelled the order. We cannot afford this and no attempts have been made to discuss pricing or what our options were. We will not be returning
Don’t recommend coming here for behavioral health unless you’re literally working for minimum wage, as that’s the only way you will be given financial assistance to help with their astronomical fees. It’s triple the cost here for therapy as it was at 3 other offices I’ve been to here in Muncie - Open Door billing told me I “make too much” for financial assistance without considering one bit of my monthly costs for rent, utilities, gas, food, or other bills/payments. I make 14.50/hour with a college degree, barely hit $1500/month - my rent alone is $1100 - and they want $250/month for my therapy that was deemed necessary by my PCP there. Billing’s riveting advice? To set up a payment plan! They don’t recommend that patients “just stop treatment” per billing! Not to lower the cost for me, but just to ensure I continue paying Open Door Health for years and years to come. This isn’t a solution for me - it’s one for them to ensure I keep coming back and paying them. If my health were truly of concern to them, they would consider these things when applying their sliding scale. I don’t know where my next meal is gonna be from all the time - but apparently the money I spend on food/bills is so much and should adqueately cover $250/monthly. I have diagnosed PTSD, anxiety, and depression and need therapy for my own well being to continue living and functioning as I am. They’ll say they’re doing their part as they have not denied me services - they just want me to spend the money I have for food, gas, and other outstanding debts on them for the next 20 years, I guess. Disgusting and sad from a place meant to help those who are low income. I adored my therapist I was seeing - but am so disgusted at the entire lack of care for those who are still low income/struggling but may actually have jobs.
I have 4 broken toes and my foot is broken. Saw a Dr for pain meds. Dr said this is simply a referral. 4 weeks after seeing the doctor, had to wait 2 weeks to see Dr still no referral. Beth the referral Nurse and Jenny, another nurse, do not reply to phone calls to tell me when I get a referral. It hurts. I am on pain. Why can't I get a referral?
Really not impressed with today's events. My granddaughter went to your establishment. First, she called and signed in. She has been to your place of business before and so her "particulars" are in your system. She noted that people who came after she did were being allowed in and called to find out what was going on. Low and behold, she found that the person who had taken her name/phone number, instead of pulling her chart so they had her phone number correct, had copied down a wrong number and she could have been seen an HOUR earlier IF the person had simply pulled her chart which had her phone number...incompetent... much? Eventually, she told you all to forget it and went back home. Your fixation on Covid might cause you to misdiagnose a patient, or completely make the patient give up and not seek medical attention. There ARE more things wandering around out there than Covid. Of course, they won't get you as an organization $19,000. The medical oath includes the promise to "Do no harm". While she has been happy with the services up until today, I would say that today, that promise of "Do no harm", as far as I am concerned, was certainly not fulfilled.
It was such a refreshing experience to have staff members genuinely care about my health and overall well being. Within 24 hours of becoming a new patient, I was seen by a physician and was listened to. My medication was refilled and extra resources were given on how I can move forward with their services. They charge based on income, so even after suffering unemployment from the pandemic, I was able to get treated. Cannot recommend enough!
I love my family Dr Brown, he's the best one I have had in years. He takes time too do what's needed and he cares about his patients well being no matter how long it takes. I also want to thank Dr Shepler for his service. Thank you for working with me too get me in a good place.
