Service has declined horribly since Optum took over. Appointments can take weeks to months if you want to see a specific doctor. I recently called complaining of chest pains and they told me they don’t have an available appointment until next week. They recommended I go to their urgent care. I went there and they said it’s at least a 2 hour wait to see a doctor. I finally left and went to a different urgent care and was seen immediately because of the nature of my complaint possible heart attack. I’ll definitely be making changes to my medical coverage next open enrollment…
Went to los alamitos med center emergency room with infected toe. Prescribed antibiotics and told to contact my pc/optum. Called and found that my pc had retired dr de Sousa told by phone person I could not see any other doctor until a new pc was assigned by scan. Took 1 month to be reassigned to dr Tran. Life mothers care and death took over and I finally called for an appointment in mid October. Told phone person of my distress over bleeding toe, high blood pressure and possible diabetes. Response was “no appointment available for two weeks”. Asked her can I see another Optum doctor? “No”. Saw dr Tran He prescribed high blood pressure meds and various referrals to specialists to take care of specific problems. In our initial appointment he had no idea what my concerns were. Specifically my swollen infected toe. He referred me to dr holness to address my toe problem and after a week the insurance approval came through. I made appointment the next day and found out during examination that although it was the right dr it was the wrong office. I’m currently awaiting Optum approval for dr holness wound care clinic to finally receive treatment. I can only hope that necessary information is provided to dr holness diabetes, cellulitis etc prior to my appointment from dr Tran to avoid any further delays. Had blood pressure test 11/15 and med tech told me that due to my high readings dr Tran would call me to let me know whether or no to increase my dosage. That was Tuesday. This is Friday. No call! Very disappointing but not unexpected
All of our systems are broken especially the DRS OFFICES. Seriously its so aggravating and enfuriating dealing with the doctors and staff at optum aside from my primary Dr Dr.Chan- all of them have failed me miserably at optum with my severe pain and gastro and organ function issues they do not have enough in depth testing for gastro care and they do not take my pain seriously. The office staff are all extremely uncaring jerks who immediately are accusatory and rude and unhelpful. Addition, the office staff/ nurse assistant lied about having my papers ready which I needed to apply for a disability plaquard thru the DMV and for the third time she gave me the wrong thing this year. Like I’m sick, and I dont need to be going all over the earth just to have nothing work out multiple times. This is my 3rd time trying to get this done while recovering from all of my many organ infections gut and ovarian issues. I am so effing DONE with optum. Their customer sevice is terrible, especially at the Huntington beach office on adams too. Just awfull disturbingly rude and heartless.
They're the worst. Trying to get my son in and the process is so cumbersome... finally the person on the phone couldn't hear me don't know why that happened and hung up. I'm giving them a 2 star, becasue one I can see my doctor he's actually very good. But administratively, terrible to deal with.
The staff is very welcoming, helpful and friendly! Very pleasant on the phone and in person, I have had such good experiences with this group and enjoy my appointments! I am so blessed to have a care provider in Dr. Brown, she is so caring and understanding and has the best bedside manner which is awesome she takes the time to listen to you and find out a plan that we both can be comfortable with and explain it to where you can understand. I love the fact that she took time to call afterwards and see how I was doing, I have not had that with prior providers There are some things that can’t be taught, but comes from the heart and I see that in Dr. Brown and I thank you and the staff.
Dr chan is the most helpful Dr I know who goes out of his way to assist you if you have pain issues or chronic issues. He is extremely resourceful and takes the time to find you specialists and even will make phone calls to you after hours to ensure you have what you need to be seen by specialists. Ge is very kind and understanding. I have been seeing him for 2 years and he is the only reason I have stayed with optum because their phone system and unprofessional office staff at each location i go to, and uncaring uncompassionate towards those with pain issues , and plain rude and yelling at me, for that reason i have wanted to go to another network. But dr chan is the only reason i have stayed.
I have seen two doctors here. The first was ok, but I really liked the second and decided to have her as my general doctor. I wish I could have stayed, but calling to make an appointment is ridiculous! Once I waited 20 minutes before I actually heard a live persons voice and when I told the woman how long I waited she said, “That’s nothing. We have had people wait 45 minutes just to be put back on hold.” The doctors aren’t that good. The next time I called I listened to the hold music again hadn’t talked to a human yet for 5 minutes to have a recording come on to tell me to call back during regular business hours of 8am-6pm...it was 4:19 pm! Not a holiday or weekend. A Tuesday. In January. The office wait times have varied from being seen within 15 minutes of signing in to 45 minutes. But, I don’t think it should ever be so much trouble to get a live person on the phone to make an appointment.
the doctors are very nice; the staff is very nice; the office has easy parking and access BUT the wait times are intolerable. I really wish they could resolve the problem as I like this group! The first time I went, I waited 2 hours. I thought it was an anomaly. A few subsequent visits were in the 30 hour-40 minute range. Yesterday, my appointment was at 3:40 and I finally left the office at 6 pm! And that was to see the nurse practitioner, not my dr. Apparently, they may be required to schedule appts 15 mins apart so, as the day goes on, they become further and further behind. Unless you have all the time in the world and bring something productive to do with your time and a sweater because the office was a bit chilly, you may wish to consider another provider.
I’ve been using this clinic for years. The doctors and staff are very busy but polite and I’ve always been pleased with my experience. No clinic is perfect but I feel Optum care rates at the top. The Doctors are caring and top notch and that’s what really counts. If you want immediate service I suggest you visit McDonald’s or Jack-in-the-Box.
I'm shock ro received a bill of $243 for a zoom new patient office. The zoom mainly was to get more medical infos and the purpose of my appointment. It took literally 5mins of me repeating the same answers that I had gave over the phone. They did not contact me after to make an actual office appointment nor followup with any documents as they mentioned. I will not be a patient to this office
