I don’t care much for hospitals, but if I had to go to one it would be Orange city area health! The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable! The birthing center people are top notch! The food is delicious, and comes in a timely manner. Glad my wife chose them!
My grandpa had to go to the ER for serious medical complications. The ER front desk people were nice, however, they treated this as not an emergency. We waited for 10 minutes to be brought in. When we did get in, the two EMTs were the worst people. They didn’t want to be at work, they didn’t introduce themselves, they weren’t kind, and they treated my grandpa like he was stupid. I work in healthcare and I have not seen someone treat a patient so poorly. My grandfather is hard of hearing, and these two individuals knew this. They still didn’t speak up. They did not explain anything they were doing and clearly hated their work lives. And the equipment looks like it’s been here since WW2. The computer, first of all, should be able to move from the desk so the nurses and whoever else can be next to the patient, looking at them, and so it’s easier to hear. Second, introductions are just standard practice. Third, explain all of your procedures and plans to the patient. It’s not that hard to take the time to make sure a patient knows what’s going on. That’s your job. Do it correctly. Kindness matters. .
I broke my wrist a few weeks ago. I just wanted to get it looked at by a healthcare professional. To my horror, the ER “doctor” Lee Kamstra appeared agitated and distracted upon arrival. He had a series of angry outbursts, bent my fingers to cause pain in retaliation when I expressed that I was unhappy with his inability to respond to my concerns. I also have reason to believe that he discussed my situation with an unqualified third party without my knowledge or consent and wrote patently false information in my chart notes to cover up his misconduct. I spent that night writhing in pain until I could get a ride to Sioux City for surgery.
ER front desk lacked empathy, professionalism and helpfulness when it came to assistance. It really seemed like they just hated their job, why work where you help people if you don’t want to. Physicians and RN’s were very helpful though!
Although most of my experiences with doctors here have been completely fine, I had a very poor experience with one of the family practice doctors a few months ago. I went to him with concerns about a couple moles, which he checked out. But, without asking or warning me, he lifted up the back of my shirt to look there. It was unexpected and extremely uncomfortable. Doctors should ask for consent just like everybody else.
Very unhappy with my first time doing an ultrasound for my 32 week pregnancy appointment. There was no privacy in the room, especially when I had to change to get ready for it. The ultrasound lady kept coming in and out of the room and the way she did the ultrasound was very rough. It shouldn’t be painful and I had my husband with me who was very confused on the care and privacy we received during this appointment. The lady seemed to be on drugs, as she was very hesitant and disrespectful. The doctor we seen is from Sioux Falls was also not very understanding and didn’t talk to us in a calmly manner. We could not catch up to what she was completely saying because she was talking so fast with the “okay? Okay?” At everything she said. We were waiting for this ultrasound and happy to visit, but it was a terrible experience with the staff and doctor. I wish i was referred to a different clinic, doctor, and ultrasound tech. We will complain to the board of health. Hope they cleaned up the crystal like powder that was on the floor by the ultrasound table I had to lay on. Very bad staff
I thought it was very odd, disrespectful, and unprofessional that the physician was not wearing a mask in the hospital or in my family member’s hospital room, considering masks were being required hospital-wide. Everyone else was adhering to this policy. Other than this strange encounter, the experience was good. The nurses were delightful and the place is clean and inviting.
I use too love Orange City Health but I dont like how they try too make you seem like you are making things up or make themselves sound like they are better then you. The last doc. I saw made me feel absolutely stupid about covid. All because the stuff is disappearing that dont mean it's over. My boss is who sent me home so I came to be safe and get tested trust me id rather be working..
As for the building it's good. I used to be happy going there but lately I've been getting the run around alot. Being told to give blood so I do then they call me and tell me I have to do it the next morning. Waiting for a week for my prescription to be sent to the pharmacy and still getting the run around on it today
Doctor Muilenburg Is the best when it comes to carpal tunnel relief. His procedure takes under 15 minutes in office, Very little downtime, back to work the next day. I would recommend it for anyone who has carpal tunnel issues.
