A peer-support center, for adults in mental health recovery, that is safe and supportive with healthy choices to develop connections, skills, and purpose
The Outreach Center (ORC) is open
Monday - Friday from 12:00pm to 5:00pm.
Closed Saturday & Sunday
ORC is designed to assist adults impacted by mental illness to connect with one another, staff, and community resources in order to work towards holistic wellness.
• People who utilize the ORC often become involved in planned:
o Social, educational and occupational activities
o Recreational programs and activities
o ORC and Appleton community events
• Membership at the ORC is a unique experience. There is no fee to become a member. Upon entry, individuals work with a certified peer specialist and are given a strengths assessment. Based on interests and goals set by the member, they are invited to participate in specific day to day operations of the center that will maximize their talents, build social engagement, and increase healthy leisure activities. Members of the ORC are invited to plan activities, share suggestions and concerns for the center at weekly Member Meetings.
• A membership committee is appointed by members every three months. This committee is given an opportunity to hold leadership roles within the center. Some duties include mentoring new members, facilitating activities and weekly member meetings, and more.
• The ORC provides information on community-based services, such as housing, education, and employment. We work with other mental health agencies, and many community service agencies, across the Fox Valley area.
• The ORC activity calendar provides members with details on monthly social and leisure activities, in addition to support groups offered.
