Description

Soo Bahk Do (Tang Soo Do) is the name of our style.
Moo Duk Kwan is the name of our worldwide organization which was founded by Grandmaster Hwang Kee in 1945.
Oregon Moo Duk Kwan is the only school in the state certified to teach Soo Bahk Do. It is the only Soo Bahk Do/Tang Soo Do school in Oregon recognized by World Moo Duk Kwan President H.C. Hwang.

My elementary school age son and I joined in February last year. We were immediately welcomed into the studio’s dojang community. We take classes 3x per week. It’s everything we were looking for in building our conditioning, flexibility, self discipline, focus, skills. It has been really engaging to practice this authentic and traditional art, learning the history, terminology, and culture along the way. Master Rosenthal is an outstanding practitioner, teacher, and leader. He’s very dynamic in how he can keep it lighter and fun for the younger kids, upbeat and challenging for the adolescents, and realistic and accessible for us adults advancing in our years. Being new to Oregon, it has been a great way for my family and me to become involved in something outside our home, build relationships, come together as a community. I feel very fortunate for the friends I’ve made and the cool experiences I continue to have being a member of OMDK.
I am a newbie to this dojang, but I practiced the art years ago at another dojang. I was very nervous about starting up again now in my late 30s. I brought my 12-year-old son along with me. We love it. Everyone at OMDK is inviting and welcoming. They immediately made me feel comfortable. On day one, you jump right in and get started- there's no lull on the first day- learning starts immediately and they meet you where you are. Master Rosenthal the owner and main instructor is kind and calm. He's very good at explaining things and teaching not just technique, but life lessons. He's firm in his teaching, but not intimidating or scary. We've been with the dojang now for 7 months and it feels like we're part of a family. It's great: great community, great exercise, and great mindfulness practice.
Master Rosenthal is an amazing teacher and martial artist. Oregon Moo Duk Kwan has been instrumental in our family's lives for over 8 years now. If you are considering starting martial arts or even if you aren't! I would highly HIGHLY recommend Oregon Moo Duk Kwan!

Excellent martial arts school. The instructors do a great job teaching the students martial arts, discipline, character and make it fun.
Excellent teacher, he has patience and knows how to bring out the best on the kids, with loving attention. My Sons love the class.
