Oregon Pacific Area Health Education Center provides the communities it serves with access to educational programs to enrich the experiences of rural students. Pathways, one of our programs, is offered at Amity, Woodburn, Gervais, Santiam, Stayton, Scio North Salem, Willamina, Sheridan, Waldport and Siletz High Schools.
Students of grades 9-12 are welcome to join Pathways if they are interested in learning more about the variety of careers available in health services.
Activities involve academic skill building, lesson on health issues, field trips to health care facilities and colleges. Students visit hospitals to go on tours and watch medical procedures. College visitations help students consider their options upon graduation from high school.
OPAHEC serves the following counties in Northwest Oregon: Clakamas, Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, Yamhill, Polk, Marion, Lincoln, Benton, & Linn.
The AHEC mission is to enhance access to quality health care, particularly primary and preventive care, by improving the supply and distribution of healthcare professionals via strategic partnerships with academic programs, communities, and professional organizations.
