Located at 109 East Mifflin St. in Orwigsburg, PA, the society features a collection of memorabilia, artifacts, and a genealogical library.
Featuring an expansive collection of memorabilia, published works, a genealogical library, and artifacts representing Orwigsburg and Southern Schuylkill County, the society is housed in the former Friendship Fire Co., built in 1891. An extensive interpretive display tells the story of Southern Schuylkill County from its earliest settlers through the development of agriculture, industry, and transportation. A detailed archaeological exhibit highlights this display. The society, located at 109 East Mifflin Street, is open every Thursday, 12:00 – 4:00 and by appointment. Groups are always welcome. The mission of the Orwigsburg Historical Society is to promote, through the establishment and maintenance of a repository, museum, and allied
projects, a program that will foster understanding and appreciation by the community of its history, art, culture, and natural environment.
The society offers a selection of books and commemorative gifts related to Orwigsburg and Schuylkill County. Photo reprints are also available, both framed and unframed. Limited edition art prints of the original Schuylkill County Courthouse and the Orwigsburg Veterans Memorial Building are available in very limited quantities.
