I went into the E.R at 12:15 in a lot of pain, I got a Room rather quickly. The Doctor came in around 12:45 and asked what was i there for, he didn’t give me any information or even take the time to listen to what the problem was,he literally spent two minutes with me. Then I sat in the room for Two hours before I put on the call light to find out what was going on, mind you now I’m in a lot of pain. The nurse answers and says she would send my nurse in, so I waited another half hour before I called again to let them know I wanted to leave them they sent a nurse who informed me that she had just been called down to be my nurse after I’d been there over two hours. Long story short I spent almost five hours there and received no care, nothing for pain, no ultrasound or anything. So I left still not knowing what is wrong and still in pain. I’ve been told that Racism plays a big part at this hospital and now I know this is true.
I apperciated the front desk getting my child in quickly and getting him cleaned up and taken care of. But this review was for my son's care. The doctor did not wear gloves touching his head wound. The nurse said that well the doctor washed their hands. Also did not clean the wound until after stapled. They stapled my 10 year old head with no pain medication as he scream in pain. I have never seen a doctor ever in my life touch an opened wound with no gloves!
Very disappointed with this health care organization. I was billed $1,635.15 for an emergency room visit for my 12-year old son with a gash on his knee. We spent ~6 hours in the ER mostly waiting. Total amount of actual patient service was less than 30 minutes and consisted of placing tape on the wound. My insurance covered part of the bill but I was still left with $1,049.00 for a glorified band-aid. After speaking to the patient billing department and patient services department they found that the billed amount for the level of service provided was "appropriate". I'm not naïve and understand a visit to ER is costly and time consuming. But in comparison, my son who apparently is injury prone, busted his chin earlier in the year and required stiches. Total bill came up to ~$300. This is partially on me for even considering the ER for the injury my son sustained. However after 3-4 hours of waiting I told the staff we were leaving before he was actually attended to. And the staff strongly urged me against that decision and that the doctor would be in soon. Well 6 hours of waiting and a $1K bill for a band-aid really taught me a lesson with this hospital. So much for the spirit of Christ and the example of Francis of Assisi, the Mission of OSF HealthCare is to serve persons with the greatest care and love in a community that celebrates the Gift of Life. As a Catholic, my experience of services rendered and the accompanying mission statement are fully out of alignment. Consider other options.
I recently went to the hospital with a stroke When I got to the ED, a neurologist was on a tv monitor. The whole time he was there , he yelled at me to settle down. While having a stroke you can’t control your body responses. My wife also heard and saw him yelling. The patient advocate said that this was my perception. The ED doctor merely watched and did no intervention At the end of the stay a respiratory therapist came into my room and said that she had to MacGuyver an oxygen hookup from my room to the next room. Extremely dangerous. Again the patient advocate advised that this was my perception. She said it was hospital air and not oxygen. Again not what RT said she was doing. I’m sure that JCAH and OSHA would be interested to here about this I was very concerned and frustrated that the patient advocate said that all events were my perception I think that assigning perception to all events is the new plausible deniability
Got in a room, did the tests, then proceeded to wait over 4 hours for results and i still didnt get them. Was going to sign myself out. I told them thats what i wanted. They said i could and they would give me discharge papers. 30 minutes later, still no papers. Call the nurse again, she said he was taking longer than usual to discharge us. Then we signed a paper to leave. Dont go to this hospital. go to Bromen.
There are two hospitals in town for a reason. This one misdiagnosed me which led to 5 day hospital stay and one month out of work instead instead of an outpatient procedure and a couple days of work missed. Despite multiple internal reviews to reassess my bill, they charged me $45k and refused to budge on the price. Go to the other hospital if it is safe enough to do so. This one may save your life, but they'll make it hell.
My mother recently spent several days on the Ortho unit. All of her nurses and techs were outstanding! Casey, Lexi, Antonio, Monica, and several others that I apologize for not remembering their names. I could tell that they were all dedicated to their work and went above and beyond to take excellent care of her and be sure that we had anything that we needed. A sincere thank you to everyone!
0 Stars . I was transferred here from another ER 60 miles away for an emergency surgery. Upon entering I was Erie about the place walking to my room. When I get to my room they said I might be sharing a room with someone. when there were multiple rooms open. Didn’t have a chair or even a bed for my partner even though we traveled an hour a away. He would have slept in the car. They attempted to stick my vien 2 times !! I’ve NEVER had anyone not be able to stick my vien on the first try when I mentioned to the nurse to get someone else she had an attitude. After the third try I walked out . I will be getting treated somewhere else these people are rude unprofessional and frankly very scary. I did NOT feel safe here. Rooms are very OUTDATED AND DIRTY. They treat you like your in the psych ward or nursing home. You can’t have any opinion. Even though I jeopardized my health and walked out. I knew I was NOT going to get the care I needed here. I wouldn’t even send a DOG here! DO NOT SEND ANY ONE HERE UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO SUFFER
One nurse told her CNA to disconnect my IV , the CNA an I looked at eachother & told the nurse that it isn’t our scope of practice, because I am a CNA myself. She became agitated and remove the IV herself Never going there again!!!!!
Worst place to go to. If you want your loved ones to die go here. I had to go to the nurses station to slam my hand on the desk because my grandmother could not breathe at all and her alarms were going off. What were the nurses doing. They were all just sitting there talking and laughing why they have all these alarms going off. Wow I would rather have my loved ones go to brommen then this dam place.
