Amazing place, lots to look at and see. Sushi was stunning, but the staff was pretty slow for a lunch service. From the time we ordered until we got up to track down our check was 90 min, making us late. The sushi was on point and I would go back for dinner I think, but the salad was old so I don't know. Usually a place like this would have people checking on you more, but there were many times we didn't have water or drinks. Too bad, it's a super nice place.
There are many sushi restaurants in the valley. I’ve been to dozens. Some are good. This one is fantastic. After living in Manhattan for years, my sushi standards are high. One thing I use to decide how well things are done at any new sushi joint, is by ordering and trying the Hamachi Kama. Hamachi Kama is the collar of a Yellow Tail and it’s the best part of the fish!. It was delicious. Very tender with great flavor and a nice char. The see weed salad was also very nice and served with julienne daikon. Very refreshing addition and better than just see weed alone. We ordered several rolls. They were all well prepared with very fresh fish. For the health conscious out there, they use purple rice which has more nutrients wthan white rice and the same antioxidants found in blueberries. The rolls were not overloaded with rice either. The rice was just enough to contain the delicious fish inside. Excellent service, great food and a very charming atmosphere with seating inside and out on the patio. Highly recommended!
After reading the reviews for Otaku I wasn't sure if I was headed to the best or worst sushi restaurant. The reviews seemed to be polar opposites. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful. High ceilings, stone tile floors, and marble table tops. The seats were modern Asian, but very comfortable. There are ceiling to floor windows and outdoor seating. There is a large saltwater aquarium in the entrance with puffer fish, lion fish, hippo tangs, etc. The restaurant was not very busy during the lunch hour. Only a handful if tables were occupied. I was sat quickly and my server was attentive at first, but after he delivered my meal I didn't see him again until I got my check. I ordered the Fire in the Mouth roll upon his suggestion. I also order a Bento box with crispy walnut shrimp. The roll took much longer then I expected. I ordered the roll first thinking I could start my meal with it. I'm not sure what took so long, after all they aren't really cooking anything. The roll and salad from the Bento box came out at the same time. The salad was good with sesame dressing although I would have preferred a creamy ginger. The salad could have been dressed better. Most of the dressing was on the bottom of the bowl. The roll was okay. It was served on a pretty plate, but was not plated well. The sauce was just half hazzardly spooned over the roll. The roll was a little spicy, but other then the spiciness of the jalapeno and sauce there wasn't much depth of flavor. The rice was a hair undercooked or dried out in my opinion. Definitely not my favorite roll. The Bento box looked nice. The Walnut shrimp were great. Large shrimp with a great sweet white sauce The California roll was okay once again the rice is either undercooked or dried out. The gyoza and egg roll were both cooked perfectly and were pretty large. They both tasted good. The fried rice was tasteless with an occasional chunk of egg. Overall I was not overly impressed with my meal. It is possible that the other things on their menu are great, but since I don't live in the area I will probably no be back. Side Note:. A few of the tables around were picking up their sushi roll pieces with their hands. Not just a piece or two. They ate their whole meal that way. I have seen people eat nigiri that way, but never maki except for an occasional end piece. Is that an Arizona thing?
Great restaurant! The food is fantastic, I love the atmosphere, and the service is good too. I recommend the stir fried udon and dragon roll. Also the strawberry sake is amazing!
It has been a while since we were last in, and it appears management has changed. The only differences I noted were more casually dressed employees, a smaller, less-formal menu a paper, and purple rice. Service and food were really good. The rice in all the sushi rolls we tried veggie, spicy tuna, crazy, Arizona, and dynamite was purple, which was unusual but tasted the same. We went on a Saturday night and we're seated right away. There is a nice outdoor seating area, a bar and a sushi bar in addition to the regular dining area.
Staff was very friendly and amazing! We had a large group of people for Happy Hour and the waitress was really great: taking people's orders who showed up at different times, bringing cups with lids for the kids, etc. I recommend the fried rice, Phoenix roll it has lobster YUM and the mochi for dessert.
Incredible! Easily the most beautiful plating of sushi I have ever seen in person. It was also quite delicious! I have not seen sushi made with black/ red rice before. This is also the first time I have seen 5 different types of fish eggs on top. New favorite of all places I've been Sushi place!!
This was my first trip here, definitely not going to be our last. The food was great and the menu had a lot of options. I was thrilled that they were also able to make an option on the kids menu gluten free for my son.
Love love love this place! Fresh products, excellent sushi and hot dishes. Devoted to the new Poke Bowl pic attached - I created my own!
The atmosphere is calming, it's quiet. The sushi was amazing. They made a cheetah roll! With flaming hot Cheetos!! No kidding! It sounds weird but it was so good.
