Why don't the busses have curtains?! Why does one half of the bus have to roast in the sun while the other is in the shade on a 6 hour bus ride. Install some curtains for god's sake! There outta be a law.
Been trying to get a refund for well over a year now. Every time I call them, they say they're mailing me a cheque... They took payment for services they never provided, and now they can't give refunds. That's just wrong. I've been a life long customer of Greyhound, but I could never trust them again. No integrity.
I've been a regular user of the Greyhound Bus services out of the station since 2013. little has changed over the years, which is not necessarily A Bad Thing. The station might be dated but it is very well maintained especially when you compare it to the Jungle that is the Toronto bus station!. Great location with fairly good connections to some of the main local OC Transpo bus routes. The staff here a very hit and miss. You will often come across people here who look like they hate their jobs and they hate their lives, and some of them are downright unapologetically rude. I also found many of them to be dismissive and will say no to the simplest requests even when it's clearly within the rules & greyhound booking policies. On the other hand I've had many encounters with other staff who have been absolutely wonderful.
I am very disappointed after my trip last weekend. I don't enjoy leaving bad reviews but I feel like this is necessary. I wanted to take the 11am last Saturday from Ottawa to Montreal but it was full. That part is fine, but I switched to 12pm and the sales rep did not bother to tell me the 12pm trip would be residential. In the past every time I have taken the hourly Ottawa to Montreal it was the 2 hour express so I assumed it would be just that. I have to buy my tickets in person because they do not accept debit online with my bank and i do not have a credit card.. I only find out half way through the bus trip that it is residential when I asked the driver. Total milk run. Took 3 hours and 20 minutes and as I was a same day return so it greatly impacted my plans. The latest return I could take was the 9pm from Montreal when I tried to amend my return time due to the later than expected commute because I was told in Montreal that the only return was 9pm or 12am.. no response when I filed a complaint at least not yet.. This part is a non greyhound issue but I had two people try to recline their seats on me. The first time I moved because we were just boarding and it is beyond me why someone decides to recline right into you deliberately when there is a myriad of empty seats where no one is behind. The 2nd person who did it to me later on in the trip saw my frustration when it happened the first time when I moved so he is obviously oblivious as well. As I am 5"8 which is tallish for a girl I have long legs so if you recline it's going to be a pretty uncomfortable ride.. it is not even a super super long trip it is just ottawa to mtl so at that point it is sheer entitlement to do that to someone.. can't imagine being a 6"1 male in that circumstance.. he looked incredibly dumbfounded when I pushed back and told him my legs are being squashed when you do that, no apology whatsoever. 0 self awareness. Patrons AND staff have no respect for anyone on the greyhound.. . so wrong.. the train is so much better and nicer. Never again. Classier crop of people.
There is really not much special about this bus terminal. It is gray and rather dull. The staff do their job yet there is no real effort to provide exceptional customer service or value beyond servicing the travel needs. There are a few restaurant options in the building , that's about it.
Bad customer service... Bus driver took off from Montreal airport 15 minutes before schedule because he was about to exceed the time he could be driving some weird explanation I couldn't understand. I had to wait for the next bus. Now, this happens but the handling of the complaint was horrific. - Filed a compalint when I got to Ottawa, they photocopied the documentation and said they will call me back - Two weeks after - nothing - Called Greyhound, they didn't find any record of the complaint and created a complaint. They said they will check and see if they can issue a refund. - But, they said they can't do much until they see if the guys in Ottawa Central station will do something - Call Ottawa Central station again and I did get a call from an assistant manager - She had a super simple workflow - we will investigate and if we "may" issue a refund. I said listen, I don't need your 20$. I need something done as this is not an oversight. - She asked me to send an email and I did. Few weeks after - NOTHING. So it seems that: 1. their partnership model with Ottawa Central station is not well structured as they provides two points of disconnected contacts for clients and you keep bouncing between the two 2. their customer service cookbook has one line item: REFUND the 20$! In any case, not quite sure how long they will remain in this dying industry.
This station badly needs updating. It hasn't seen any remodeling or renovating for many years, and you can see the signs of age and disrepair. It was already bad 10-15 years ago and has only gotten worse since then. There are virtually no food options anymore unless you think a few vending machines count and it can be a pretty seedy place. Lots of potential here, but it has instead been allowed to fall into neglect.
I am reconsidering my very poor review of Ottawa. Yes, I did find the traffic to be ridiculously poorly managed. Traffic jams everywhere. The city has some poorly managed area. Of course one area being the Byward market area. Some parts needs improvement but as a matter of it being a destination, it is good. There is a lot to see. Lots of museums, shopping g and lots of restaurants. It is quite interesting for citizents to see how our country developed. Even took a drive by 24 Sussex just wasn't home. At least he didn't answer the door. We have been here before. This time I was not pleased about a few things but overall, I may come back again!
I called here twice today and waited on hold for a good 7 mins each time, to be greeted by someone that did not sound very happy to be doing her job. I just needed to check the times for departures to Montreal from Ottawa. It was as though I had asked a huge favour both times I called. Does it really take that much effort to offer me a friendly response?
Awful place. Lack of seating. Bathrooms are filthy. You would think that if an error was made on their part i.e. A late bus resulting in a missed connection, that they would do the upmost to right their wrong, but no. Huge lack of courtesy and they do not value their customers to be honest. Avoid if this place if possible.
