Had a good experience of quality beer and food. We went for early dinner around 6pm on a holiday. The place was fairly busy but we did not have to wait for a table. The staff was friendly and quick to address our queries. They have a wide range of beers on tap. It's hard to figure out what to order. All we have is the descriptions of the beer. I tried the Nittany Pale ale, and the hard cider. Both tasted good but my preference is for the hard cider. For food, I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip and a New York strip steak. The steak was heavenly and just as I like it. The dip was a bit salty for my taste. The only reason I have not scored 5 stars is we felt rushed throughout. The server seemed to be in a rush to take our order or to clear our table and finally to settle the check.
My go to spot on State College now. Great food and beer is legit. The buffalo mac and cheese with Brother Rods hot sauce is . And the mustard for the pretzel will kick you in the nose lol. Tofu wings are also pretty good. Highly recommend getting their signature apricot ale with a spiced rum sidecar then dump it in the beer. I love it here.
We ordered a Raspberry Margarita, Fish tacos with side of sweet potato fries, and a Soba Bowl. The margarita was as tasty as it gets, good enough for a happy afternoon’s high. Fish taco was juicy and crispy, the sauce on the top was really good. Soba bowl is vegan, rich in flavors, full of nuts and veggies. I topped it off with some buffalo sauce to make it a bit more bold. The hidden gem of this meal were the SWEET POTATO FRIES. They were crispy and soft, sweet and savory, all at once! We thoroughly enjoyed them with ketchup and buffalo sauce. if you like sweet potato and/or fries, then I would say it’s a must try.
Was surprised to see huge crowd at 5 PM on a Friday. Had to wait for around 40 minutes to get our table for two. This explains how great this place is. Loved the food. The Crispy Tofu wings with sweet Chilli is much better than the ones I found in Thai or Japanese restaurants. Pizza and Burgers are great! They do have good number of vegetarian options. 10/10 for ambiance!!
I’m not sure what happened, but Otto’s used to have really good food, but it’s just not the same anymore. My last time there I ordered a cheesesteak with extra cheese and there was almost none on the sandwich. They put a little bit on top of the meat and that was it. My wife ordered the fish and chips and it was the most bland fish I’ve ever eaten at a restaurant. I don’t think they even seasoned the batter or the fish whatsoever. Just very bland overall. I do love their root beer and service is always great.
We had dinner here about 5 years ago and really enjoyed our meal. This time around it was a totally different experience. My husband had a Mo’s Red Ale that had a slightly dishwater taste to it and then a stout that was somewhat watery. Maybe time to clean the taps? His burger was very over done with bacon with the consistency of leather and my beef sliders were just ok. However, the fry guy needs a raise considering they were the only thing that tasted good.
This used to be one of our favorite restaurants! Lately it seems the service and food has gone down hill. We waited almost 10 minutes the other night just to be greeted by our waitress and get our drink order taken when they weren’t even that busy.. When we asked if we can have half our wings one flavor and the other half another flavor the waitress wasn’t apt to meeting that request. She “checked with the chef” and stated that it normally isn’t done this way but the chef will make an exception since they’re slow. An exception? It’s tossing a few wings in sauce… made us feel like our request was inconvenient but truly it was simple. Wings were very tasty as always but the other food we ordered was sub par at best. Things used to taste so much better here and staff used to be top tier.
The restaurant was clean and has many interesting decorative items and signs. The waitress was great. The menu has a lot of good choices for both food and refreshments. I enjoyed the chili. Jalapenos would've helped it. Don't ask for hot sauce, it is meant for wings, not chili.
First time stopping in at Otto’s Pub and Brewery and it did not disappoint. The service was expedient and friendly. The food for our entire party was made perfectly. And the beer selection was a very well rounded list that provided the right variety for everyone. I highly recommend you eating at Otto’s Pub and Brewery. I will definitely be back.
Burger was great, service from Jackie was even better. She provided service beyond the industry averagel and it went much appreciated. Thank you all !
