"Operated by The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, this conveniently located center provides information on attractions, events and directions. The center also offers an accommodations reservation center, rest rooms, public phones, and picnic area. Rest areas are open 365 days a year; welcome center is open 363 days closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Convenient, drive-up waste-dump station available 24 hours. We were so happy to visit the Sarah Owens Welcome Center & Outer Banks Visitors Bureau Headquarters as we arrived at the Outer Banks! We were visiting relatives in North Carolina from Topeka, KS & decided on a day trip to the ocean. The restrooms were exceptionally clean. We enjoyed walking around the area before driving on to Nags Head & Kitty Hawk.
The restrooms are clean. The welcome center is a beautiful building with a porch and rocking chairs to give you a break from being in a vehicle. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Clean restrooms and friendly staff. Quick snacks & cold cokes are available in the vending machines. Picnic tables are available outside around the building. Inside there are a lot of brochures about the area you can have. It is the Best place to stop before driving off the Outer Banks. It is a while until the next rest stop operated by the state of NC.
This is a great place to stop for the cleanest bathrooms on the beach, there is a tourist bureau on site, the staff is very helpful. . As well there is picnic tables, and it is a pretty spot to stop at as well, with a extra bonus. .wheelchair ramp on one side. . I would highly recommended stopping in, and getting information of the Outer Banks ' they are very informative.
Very nice walking trails and picnic tables. Boardwalks go all the way out to the sound for some very amazing views. Free Kayaking docks too! Beautiful place!
Very nice visitor center with plenty info on what and where to see. Plus they have a nice long boardwalk out on the water next to the bridge to Roanoke Island.
My very first stop ever in the Outer Banks. I took the walking bridge out to the water and looked around. Very convenient bathroom stop too for anyone making that final long push to get to there.
Great place for local info, and to stop and stretch legs after long drives. There is a nice walking trail with views in the marsh, and very clean bathrooms. Ample parking and well lighted at night for a break.
These places are like great to get through what the top tripadvisor recommendations are and really helps me find things I'm interested in quickest.
Clean facilities, awesome information, and good photo op.
