About

The Overland Trail Museum has grown from a one room rock structure built in 1936 to a14 building complex which includes many historic buildings that make up our "village". The newest addition, the High Plains Education center " opened in August of 2011.

Description

For over 80 years visitors have enjoyed a step back in time when they visit the Overland Trail Museum. Extensive exhibits include pioneer history, Native American artifacts and antique farm equipment. Historic buildings include two barns, a general store, a prairie school, church, barbershop, 1915 stone block house, a caboose and a boxcar depot.

Mission

The Overland Trail Museum is an expression and a voice of the people of Logan County, Colorado. We are committed to honoring and preserving our rich heritage through education, preservation and interpretation.

The Overland Trail Museum is a division of the Parks Library and Recreation Department of the City of Sterling.
