Oxnard Airport

Description

Oxnard Airport is a county owned, public airport a mile west of downtown Oxnard, in Ventura County, California. The airport has not had scheduled passenger service since June 8, 2010, when United Express (operated via a code sharing agreement with United Airlines by SkyWest Airlines) ended flights to Los Angeles International Airport. America West Express has also served the airport with nonstop flights to Phoenix in the early-2000s.Federal Aviation Administration records say the airport had 15,961 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2008, 12,060 in 2009 and 4,074 in 2010. The National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 called it a primary commercial service airport based on enplanements in 2008 (over 10,000 per year). By the time of the next NPIAS report, for 2015-2019, Oxnard Airport had been downgraded to a regional general aviation airport with only 19 enplanements.HistoryVentura County opened Oxnard Airport in 1934 by clearing a 3,500 ft dirt runway. In the 1930s aviator Howard Hughes erected a tent at the airport to shelter his famous H-1 monoplane racer, which he tested from the dirt strip. In 1938 Ventura County paved the dirt runway and built a large hangar. In 1939 James McLean opened the Oxnard Flying School with a Piper J-3 Cub and a Kinner 2-seat airplane. Housing was built nearby for instructors and students at the school.

I'm a person who takes pride in leaving my personal opinion in what I leave in comments words dont lie Oxnard airport is a great place to fly out great customer service great place to rent a vehicle
No commercial flights, are you kidding? Everyone in this area needs to get to and from Los Angeles to take an affordable flight. Don't forget to tack on additional $100 for the van that only runs every 2 hours. It is amazing we all pay taxes and this airport is maintained for the very few that own a plane. I believe we should use some of our tax dollars to entice Aligent Airlines and some small carriers to operate out of Oxnard giving all of us a less stressful opportunity to travel.
Use often. Low fees compared, small yet comfortable land/takeoff. Small Jet from home to SFO under 2.5 hours. Professional, friendly, cars washed in Hanger. Employees warm. Tower Pros. Private jet travel allows citizens to find a way home. For repatriation flights from the United States to a country where travel is restricted to citizens only, the plane can land, but crewmates can’t set foot on foreign land. The passenger departs, and the crew immediately leaves the country. It is not advised to use a private jet to skirt entry restrictions. I am not a transport jet. Simply enjoy OXA
Oxnard airport is a great little airport in a convenient area with easy to understand airspace
Private air service only and the terminal is currently closed.
Very good place! Nice People. Your stuff can get mold because it's very wet in the area close to ocean so get a seal for bottom of door. That you close on. Otherwise great storage unit good prices
Oxnard airport is quiet. If you want to keep your plane there, there is a huge advantage that you will never have to wait to take off. The disadvantages it's not really quite near the highway and you do not have the social interaction that you do at Camarillo airport. You also have more of a chance on whether that you will not be able to get out because of overcast, this will be a problem if you are not an instrument rated pilot. The decision is up to you, but you will have much more of a chance of getting a place to keep your airplane if you do it at Oxnard.
Very. Small. Air port. Just. Been. There to visit old plan. Never. Have. Travel out. Of. There
Dollar Standard car rental in excellent. Great customer service and very professional
I've never flown here, but they have car rentals, shuttles to LAX, and even a kiosk for the Ventura County Credit Union!
