Dr. P.K. Sharma practices plastic and reconstructive surgery. He has trained in both England and the United States and is Clinical Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at UMDNJ, Newark, New Jersey and Chief of Plastic Surgery at Meadowlands Hospital in Secaucus, New Jersey.
Dr. Sharma is Board Certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
He is best known for reconstructive, microsurgery, hand surgery and cosmetic surgeries as well as reconstructive breast surgery for cancer patients. His skill with body contouring surgeries, such as liposuction, breast enhancements, breast reductions (both female and male), facial enhancements such as face-lifts, rhinoplasty, and eyelid surgery, are why patients come from all around the world to see him.

Breast Surgery
Breast surgery includes augmentation, saline or silicone gel implants, breast lift, breast reduction (both female and male) and post-mastectomy reconstruction. Women with small or underdeveloped breasts who wish to enhance their appearance may choose to have a plastic surgery procedure called breast augmentation or mammoplasty. There are currently two FDA approved breast implants to choose from for plastic surgery: implants that are filled with saline or silicone gel.
Dr. Sharma will work with you to select the proper implant that fits your body size and lifestyle. He will review the surgical procedure, risks involved and will spend time to answer all of your questions.
Body Contouring Surgery
Liposuction of all body areas to reduce size and shape are performed. "Tummy-tuck," buttock-lift and buttock reshaping procedures are also performed.
Facial Surgery
Face-lift (Rhytidectomy)
Improves sagging facial skin, jowls, and loose neck skin by removing excess fat, tightening muscles, redraping skin. This procedure is most often done on men and women over 40.
Brow-Lift
Minimizes forehead creases, drooping eyebrows, hooding over eyes, furrowed forehead and frown lines by removing excess tissue, altering muscles and tightening the forehead skin. This procedure can be done using the traditional technique, with an incision across the top of the head just behind the hairline, or with the use of an endoscope, which requires 3 to 5 short incisions.
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Corrects drooping upper eyelids and puffy bags below the eyes by removing excess fat, skin, and muscle. (Upper eyelid surgery may be covered by insurance if performed to correct visual field defects).
Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)
Reshapes the nose by reducing or increasing size, removing a hump, changing the shape of the tip or bridge, narrowing span of nostrils, or changing the angle between nose and upper lip. A rhinoplasty may also be performed to relieve certain breathing problems (and may be covered by insurance).
Chin Surgery (Genioplasty)
Changes the profile and size of the chin.

Chemical Peel (Glycolic and Trichloroacetic acid [TCA])
Restores wrinkled, blemished, unevenly pigmented, or sun-damaged facial skin, using a chemical solution to peel away the skins top layers. Works best on fair skin with superficial wrinkles.
Fat Injection
Plumps up creased, furrowed, or sunken facial skin; adds fullness to lips and backs of hands. Works best on thin, dry, light-colored skin.
Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion is a mechanical scraping of the top layers of skin using a high-speed rotary wheel. This procedure softens sharp edges of surface irregularities, including acne and other scars and fine wrinkles, especially around the mouth.
Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)
Sets prominent ears back closer to the head, or reduces the size of large ears.
Facial Implant
Changes the basic shape and balance of the face using carefully shaped implants to build up a receding chin, add prominence to cheekbones or reshape the jawline.
Laser Facial Resurfacing
Laser facial resurfacing smoothes fine wrinkles using a carbon dioxide laser device that treats layers of damaged skin. It also softens lines around the eyes and mouth and minimizes facial scars and unevenly pigmented areas.
Liposuction (Suction-Assisted Lipectomy)
Liposuction improves body shape by removing exercise-resistant fat deposits with a tube and vacuum device. It can be performed using the tumescent technique, in which targeted fat cells are infused with saline solution containing a local anesthetic to reduce post-operative bruising and swelling. Common locations for liposuction include chin, cheeks, neck, upper arms, above breasts, abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, calves, ankles. For larger volumes of fat or for fibrous body areas, ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty (UAL) may be used. UAL is a new technique in which an ultrasound probe is inserted beneath the skin to liquefy the fat before it is suctioned.
Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia)
This procedure can reduce enlarged, female-like breasts in men using liposuction and/or cutting out excess glandular tissue.

Dr. Sharma is an active member of both PAGES, Phillipino Association of Surgeons and Educators and Healing the Children. They are volunteer organizations dedicated to healing children around the world. Dr. Sharma donates his time and services and performs repairs of cleft palate and cleft lip. His scope of care also extends to repairing scar deformities, caring for acid burn victims and hand surgeries.
