I am writing this review after a disturbing encounter today at Pagosa medical center. I accompanied my 12 year old grand daughter in for her school physical today and I was extremely dis appointed with how we were treated. It was a sub par exam if that’s what they are billing my insurance and the lack of medical inquiry about a negative life threatening vaccine reaction was very disturbing. So much so that I felt compelled to alert the local community of their policies and sub par behavior and service. Imagine bringing in your daughter or granddaughter in my case for an office visit to discuss with her new potential provider her state of health and personal needs. I also mentioned to them upon our arrival that I had in hand a medical vaccine exemption form from the state for them to sign off on for her school. They told me out front fine, just mention this to the Dr during her appointment. When Dr Z entered the room he greeted us with a warm smile and started right in with some questions for both of us. What’s up, any medical concerns and why are you here. When he asked if she had any allergies I said she’s healthy but needs to have her medical vaccine exemption form signed because her mother had a life threading reaction to a vaccination. He immediately responded that he couldn’t do so because of hospital policy. I saw his demeanor immediately change and he appeared uncomfortable and nervous. He stood up and said I can go get some information for you so you can get the exemption yourself and he hurried out the door abruptly. I found this behavior very odd and shortly after he returned with a sticky note with a website where I could get the form I just handed him. He seemed hurried and never inquired about her mothers reaction or showed any concern about the situation at all. He stood up and asked if he could listen to her heart despite having normal reading on her blood pressure, pulse and oxygen levels just a few minutes prior by the CA. We gave no history of any heart or health issues to indicate the need for such a procedure and shortly after he left the exam room and our visit with him was over, The lack of concern by the Dr about my grand daughters possible vaccine contraindication was shacking and disturbing not to mention a blanket policy by the hospital to refuse to sign off on a legitimate reason not to receive a vaccine is reckless and possible unlawful and illegal and may constitute medical malfeasance. I wrote to them today and I am awaiting a response by phone. Please know that such behavior is unacceptable to me as a local doctor in this community and I felt compelled to alert others to this alarming behavior.
On vaca we brought our teenage daughter into the ER. Dr Halterman and the ER nurse were amazing. They couldn’t have been more attentive and proactive. Thanks to their care our daughter was on the mend within 24 hours. Thank you to all of her medical team.
DO NOT waste your time at this place!!!!! They misdiagnosed me not once but twice. Also, good luck getting records sent over to your doctor or anywhere, bc they simply don't care and don't listen at all. To the lady at the medical records window, you really look like you enjoy your job MISS KAREN!!!
I couldn't tell you what type of treatment I received or rate the quality of service. I was in a horrific atv accident in '14. I was taken to this facility but due to the trauma my son and I endured we were air lifted back to Denver. I don't know who all attended us but I just want to give my gratitude for your help. I was looking at my Google time line and realized that I was taken here. Thanks to all the staff, doctors and nurses. Not sure who's still there after eight years but we've recuperated and are doing well
If you guys are needing urgent care or just wanting to see a primary doctor at this location i HIGHLY ADVISE AGAINST IT because it almost costed me my life and could cost you yours. I went to the ER two times. The first time I went I was having problems with my vision and i felt extremely faint. This encounter was greeted by nurses making fun of me outside my hospital door. I felt utterly HUMILIATED, I wanted to leave immediately. well, they diagnosed me with something small and I left. The second time I went to the ER I was feeling the same way and they told me that I should not go to the ER but in fact just see a therapist. After that they scheduled me an appointment with a primary doctor at that hospital, I attended the appointment and he said I have extreme anxiety. I lived a couple months struggling with what I thought was anxiety. I would wake up to my body shaking profusely, I would have moments where my energy would just drop out of nowhere and quickly. After meeting with a dietitian I learned that I was a diabetic and what I was experiencing was hypoglycemia. EVERY SYPTOM I TOLD TO THE DOCTORS WERE OBVIOUS TELL-TALE SIGNS OF DIABETES. The risk of undiagnosed diabetes is life threatening and they made me feel small and crazy for it to the point where i never wanted to talk to another doctor again because i was so afraid of receiving the same type of treatment. AND now i have to pay a $3,000 dollar bill because they put down on my insurance that nothing was diagnosed. If you guys want professional health care provider's I advise Tabitha at Alpine Medical. She is extremely thorough, she listens, and she takes everyone very seriously. Ps the doctors were right it was anxiety but the type your body goes under when you are experiencing an extreme low blood sugar rate! cant believe 8+ years of school couldnt teach them that!
My brother-in-law died in your ER last week after a brief illness. Our experience at Pagosa Medicsl Center, although short, was excellent. Dr.Voigts, nurse Charly and the rest of the staff were extraordinary. They were professional, informative, yet very empathetic and kind. My vision of Dr. Voigts hugging the patient’s wife and our other family members will forever be embedded in my mind. Would that all physicians could see that they could be warm and caring without losing their professional skills All staff members were equally exceptional.
If you are new in Pagosa or are just visiting, this town has marvelous medical facilities. I speak from experience as I have recently been to PSMC’s walk-in clinic and emergency room and would like to share my perspective. From the minute I arrived, all PSMC staff were professional, thorough and reassuring. We are so blessed to have this medical center in Pagosa Springs!
This place I just can’t explain how horrible it is .... Partner still dealing with billing. Still waiting for calls back. Been a year, sent to collections even tho all other instructions have been paid this billing office is a incompetent mess. Care is horrible horrible bedside manner in ER , horrible care so far in waiting for them to call me back now since I have a primary physician there; !!!!! I’m easy to please I just don’t expect much but caring in action but no action here at all. I’ve been hearing lots of others having similar complaints. Front desk , paramedics awesome I feel a huge lack in Higher up medical staff and billing is the worst!!! Called them today and finally did the first strap after one year then insurance extended it another and we are now in the last month of extension. This experience brought so many bad feelings and so much hardship in a multi faceted way I feel so grateful today for the process finally just got started but just depressed in the negligence and lack of empathy when considering this all could’ve been cared for in the start . Crazy making at its best! Hope no one else has to got through this $30,000 is no joke and they were always wanting to help put me on a payment plan when I had insurance tgey simply had to bill no other hospital was unpaid !!! Get caring Pagosa medical billing department!!!please get in action!!! We all deserve good care and to not go in debt!
I attended to PSMC Clinic last year. I was in need of an antibiotic Doxycycline to control my issues that I have with MRSA. I was having another attack of vertigo caused by MRSA. Through my previous years of experience with this issue and traveling overseas where I could buy Doxy at a Pharmacy I knew exactly the strength and quantity that would solve my issue. I went to the Walkin clinic and asked how much an ALL UP cost for a consultation with a DR would be. I was quoted $90 which I paid. Instead I got pawned off on a Nurse Practitioner, Rachel Liverett. I asked for the specific antibiotic, quantity and milligrams that I required to control my vertigo. What I asked for is below the protocol as specified by the 2021 Nurses handbook which I have a copy of. What I got initially was YELLED AT by nurse Rachel, "I am not giving you that" in a loud tone of voice. What I got was 1/3 the strength and 1/3 the quantity that I asked for. I came close to coming unglued. This consultation was a total waste of time and money and I had afterwards wished that I had of driven to the Mexico border and just bought about a 100 Doxy so that I wouldn't have had to suffer for the additional 21 days. The worst insult came a couple of weeks later when I received an additional bill for $250. $340 for a consultation with a Nurse and not get the antibiotic I needed. A further insult was the falsification of the medical report by Rachel that I obtained later. Like previous poster said I wish I could give less than 1 star. What I was smart enough to do was take a witness with me. When I file the Misfeasance against Rachel I wonder if she will yell at the Judge or jury when she is found guilty? And people wonder why the US is ranked somewhere between 17th and 19th on a world scale of health care!!
While visiting from OK, I had a vavovagal snycopal episode and was transported to PSMC. The staff, from EMT James & his crew; Dr. Daniel Renner, nurse-Lexi Gallegos; registration-Shannon, provided top notch care, thorough & clear answers to my questions as well as after care instructions. Kudos, PSMC
