Train 91, Feb 26,2023, attendants Sharon out of Miami, and Jimmy room attendants were very helpful, polite & professional. Sharon was special as she helped with food at the beginning of the trip when we boarded, and then again for breakfast. Appreciate how thoughtful they were. Looking forward to next Amtrak sleeper experience. Richard Castle
Trains are late, business class is 2 inch's larger than coach, way more stops than acknowledged. The old man, mumbling pornographic obscenities was an amusing break in the constant updates for delay. Amtrak wants travelers but won't spend their nonexistent profits to update the waiting area's.
The train was over 2.5 hours late. Was supposed to arrive at 8:00am, arrived at 10:40. The museum randomly closed at 10:00am. There was no am trak staff available to assist you.
Small station but charming enough. I stayed on my train but this is what it looks like in the other side.
Not really in the best of neighborhoods, but I believe the Police Dept is across the street. No need to go inside the station for assistance either. The attendants are primarily there for bus needs, not train needs as it's just the station and they are not affiliated. There is plenty of parking but I wouldn't suggest waiting at night alone. During they day should be fine. Plenty of people complain about the trains being late, but it's not the station's fault. If you need to find out the arrival/departure of the train .. download the Amtrak app or call the 1800 # and it will tell you. All in all, this station serves its purpose.
Its not a full working station for Amtrak. The train only stops if someone is getting off or on the train. The employee at the window is a Greyhound employee and can not assist with Amtrak. As far as the museum goes, if you love old stuff, you will enjoy the museum. Its neat and has clean bathrooms. As far as dealing with Amtrak, I can only say I have never been more frustrated booking a trip as I was with them, they even canceled my trip and left me stranded at the station. They do lock up the station when the greyhound person leaves and its not a safe area to be at if your alone at night. I would ssuggest having someone wait with you.
A wonderful quaint station. If you board at night and are the only boarding passenger, do not wait alone. Very dark and many vagrants around. However, the Amtrak staff is always on point knowing who to expect and showed me right to my roomette. Much better deal than first class flights and more fun! The station is pleasant and old fashioned, nice during the day. Too bad the parking spaces don't allow view of where you board, and path to parking spaces is not lit so thankfully my husband was there to wait with me!
we almost going to miss the train the lady at the train station did not even say anything to us, she just continue what she was doing. I went out side asking the train employee if this one going to the SC and he answer me in short time rushing my daughter to hurry up so he will not miss her. That strange they suppose to announce it or say something while we are waiting even if we are just two person in the station they suppose to inform us as soon the train is arrive. The bathroom smile bad and dirty. And no security at all.
Super friendly staff, nice quiet station/museum to wait for the trains in. Highly recommend the Amtrak train even though it is usually late. Take the silver meteor, not the star, if you want a good meal. Also make sure you have the time for delay if you ride.
I've lived in Interlachen Florida, not far from Palatka for many years and value it as one of the most beautiful and pleasant towns and cities in Florida. The train station in Palatka has been restored to its original look and now houses the Browning train museum and two club-operated model railroads.
