A private, nonprofit botanical park open to the public.
Plans for the Palma Sola Botanical Park began forming in 1990 when a group of local citizens decided to save a 10-acre site that had earlier been the Manatee County Nursery. The Palma Sola Botanical Park Foundation was formed in 1993. With no county or state funding, the foundation depends heavily on donations, grants and volunteers.
The mission of the Palma Sola Botanical Park Foundation is to serve as a unique community resource dedicated to providing an interactive learning environment that fosters an appreciation of nature and landscaping, preserves our natural resources, and promotes environmental education.
