This palmieri's not to be confused with the one on Atwells Ave has really solid pastries and a nice selection at that. The espresso drinks are, however, lacking. Not sure if it's the beans or the aloof cashiers charged with making them, but I'm never stoked about drinking anything from this place. That said, still check it out for the baked goods, including some really good breads Tuscan, Challah, etc. which are very nice. Reasonably priced too. EDIT 8/12/10: I don't know what's up, but pastry quality has fallen over the past half-year or so. The cannoli are an a disaster, tasting like vanilla frosting with a hint of ricotta. The bread quality seems to have gone down too. I got the "Italian baguette" which was thick as a brick and really salty. Most of their stuff isn't terrible, but it's also not worth buying considering there are a number of better places on Federal Hill.
10 out of 5 stars. A classic Rhode Island Bakery. The triple chocolate cake... Fagettaboudit, pizza strip heaven.
