My experience with this Dr and his entire staff was great. He takes his profession serious and made sure everything was all lined up and ready before & after my complete knee replacement surgery. I wish more Dr's had a funny personality like his or less serious people in this world. Dr. O'meara is one of very few who will treat u like a person and not a dollar sign, he will not rush u out the door he actually takes his time to explain everything and will answer any question u have. A perfectionist for sure .. thank u Dr O'meara & staff
I was told by the staff who had an attitude for not reason that the doctor was not in to look at and approve my referral so I couldn’t make an appointment. I had urgent pain and asked for a call back asap. No call back, and the staff didn’t care about my urgency. This doctor needs to fix his practice or quit.
I went to see Dr O'Meara for my moms knee pains. I found him personable and quite helpful. The first few appointments went smoothly, because they were mostly check ups . However, when my mom was in actual pain and needed to see him urgently, I was blocked at every turn. I called every day for 3 weeks to get him to see her, and I kept getting the same message from his office staff - he isn't available! Even after explaining the situation, and 3 urgent requests from her general practitioner, they still wouldn't budge and make an effort to fit her in. I'm not sure if it's a directive from the doctor or just his unfriendly staff, but on the phone, they were rude, unhelpful and not an ounce of sympathy for an elderly lady that was in pain. I should have read these reviews earlier and insisted my mom see another doctor. She wont be going there again!
Ive been having knee pain for almost two years and after physical therapy and various pain medications my doctor referred me to Dr. O'Meara. Well I just walked out of this office in the middle of a consultation. Dr. O'Meara has a ton of negative reviews on Google and Yelp and he deserves every single one. He was rude, condescending, LAUGHED AT ME when I tried to explain why I was referred, told me I didn't have a problem since I don't like to take pain meds unless the pain is EXTREME, and then belittled my actual doctor for referring me. He never ONCE took a look at my knee just spent all of his time lecturing me about how I don't have any real pain or issues. When I finally had enough I got up and said, "you know what? I'm gonna go see someone else" he LAUGHED AT ME AND SAID "good, you should! This guy is a major creep. Maybe if he had taken some time to stop interrupting me and LISTEN to what I was TRYING TO TELL HIM and oh I don't know LOOK AT MY KNEE like someone would THINK AN ORTHOPEDIC DOCTOR WOULD DO then it would have been a better consultation. I've never ever had a doctor talk to me this way. I've had a few that obviously had no bedside manner but never one that belittled patients or refused to even LOOK at the patients issue. Avoid at all costs. P.S. I forgot to add that he hadn't bothered to look up my file or see if the x-ray I had done at my regular doctor's office had been sent over. I mentioned if they didn't have it yet I had a photo on my phone. He dismissed that and rolled his eyes. I am mind blown that one review here says he has great bedside manner. Well obviously he plays favorites with his patients. Not cool at all.
Dr. O'Meara is an outstanding specialist and makes his patients feel welcomed. His staff is always welcoming and very polite! Every time I come in, I am greeted with a smile : I would highly recommend Dr. O'Meara to anybody who is looking for a great doctor who puts the care for patients first!!
After waiting for an hour and 47 minutes Dr. O'Meara finally saw me. I was a new patient and Dr. O'Meara was not even aware that I had a MRI done only a few months before which the report and CD with the images were in my folder. Quite obvious that he did not even look at them before. I have been having sciatic pain in my right leg for the last 2 years and it is gotten to the point it is unbearable. He basically said my problem was arthritis in my back. When I mentioned about the Tarlov cysts that the MRI report mentioned he said and I quote his words "that's just degenerative stuff". According to the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Tarlov cysts are"Tarlov cysts are fluid-filled nerve root cysts found most commonly at the sacral level of the spine – the vertebrae at the base of the spine. These cysts typically occur along the posterior nerve roots. Cysts can be valved or nonvalved. The main feature that distinguishes Tarlov cysts from other spinal lesions is the presence of spinal nerve root fibers within the cyst wall or in the cyst cavity itself." They further say "Tarlov cysts may be discovered when patients with low back pain or sciatica have a magnetic resonance imaging MRI performed. Follow-up radiological studies, in particular, computed tomographic CT myelography are usually recommended." Dr OMeara did refer me to another Doctor who I went to and then he referred me to UCSD doctors. Both of these Doctors confirmed that my problems are from the Tarlov cysts which show up very clearly on the MRI. Dr Omeara was so unprofessional during the visit, bad mouthing my primary doctor, saying the physical therapy place I went to was the worse, and a previous doctor I had seen was not a specialist so couldn't give a accurate diagnosis. He also stated that my symptoms were not consistent with his findings. It is apparent that Dr Omeara thinks he knows best and everyone else is wrong. Stay away from this Doctor if you can.
Dr. O' Meara is an excellent orthopedic surgeon. I am very pleased with my surgery he preformed on my knee. I'm walking with no pain. Always grateful to him for getting me back on my feet! Excellent staff!!
I wish I would have seen all the negative responses before I let him do my surgery ! Beware, he has terrible patient relationships: doesn’t answer the questions asked and rather inserts his own stuff..after surgery I had trouble coming out of the antistetics— he is very ridged with his protocol and the staff at Palomar are intimidated: therefore I had a reaction- couldn’t stop involuntary shaking and this went on for two days before I lost it cussing, screaming, you name it — the on call Dr finally saw me, gave me something to counteract the antisteics and it was over. He never responded to this. Afterward the office visits were also horrible: what ever concerns I had he downplayed as if I were just a wuss. I wouldn’t have written this review except that I hurt my knee in a fall and tried to get in to see him seems other Drs won’t see you until you’ve seen your operating surgeon left a message with no response, called again and their computer was down, called and finally talk d to office only to find out they can’t get me in until January 17. This is BS and I will find another way to see a different Dr.
I had a bad experience with Do. Omera .I went to his office because I have pain for two years in my left foot angle, and I told him I do not need a Cortisone shots. I need solution I am in pain, but he gave me cortisone and ask me to visit him more than 2 time to pay visit fee for nothing. he just asked me what is going on? each visit took 1 minute. Then after 3 months I got the same pain I could not walk , and I went to him. he took 1 minute without looking , and send me to the physical therapy for 6 section only which is nothing. when I tried to reach his office to ask him for more section because i still needed. It took 5 day and more that 10 phone call to reach his office after that they told me hes not gonna referd you more, and I can do that in me home. He did nothing to me just took 5 times visit fee. nothing at all I am with the same pain , and I could not walk.
I came to Dr. O'Meara Patrick for the problem with the knee. He didnt even look at my MRI!!! He diagnosed me with arthritis. I got a second opinion from USCD sports orthopedic doctor. I went to physical therapist as well. Both physical therapist and another doctor diagnosed me with meniscus issue. I had a simple arthroscopy surgery done and I am back to active life style activity: hiking, rollerblading. Yes I had a littke artrhritis but hi splan of care was pain killers and that was all!!!!! No I dont have any pain and fully active. Terrible experience
