I have been practicing in the field of counseling for over 20 years. In addition to therapy with individuals, couples and families, I also specializes in pre-adoption and post-adoption (including adult adoptees) counseling. As a wife, mother, friend, and sister, I has a special heart for helping people work through challenges and develop healthy, fulfilling relationships.
Personal Approaches to Counseling:
As a member of the American Association for Christian Counselors, I believe that compassion, understanding, and trust are all important in the therapeutic process. I prioritize the comfort and safety of my clients--allowing them to confidentially express their concerns in an accepting atmosphere. Additionally, I have a particular interest in helping people identify and move past obstacles (stress, grief, anxiety, depression) inhibiting them from embracing a full, creative life.
Relationships play such a key role in each of our lives. Oftentimes, I will utilize tools like Myers Briggs and Strengthsfinder to better examine each individual client’s exceptional giftings and strengths. Knowing that every individual possesses their own unique story, I seek to partner with each client in achieving their personal goals as opposed to simply doling out quick assumptions or pat answers.
