Paolucci Lounge Restaurant

About

Family Owned & Operated!!!

Description

The Paolucci family business dates back to 1894, when two brothers, Felix and Dominic Paolucci came to Atchison from Frosolone, Italy, a small town just north of Naples. Together, along with Dominic’s wife Rosa, they started Paolucci’s Grocery. Dominic and Rosa had three sons, Nick, John and Felix and one daughter, Mary.

Nick, John and Mary stayed with their parents to help run the store, while Felix left Atchison to pursue a career in the Navy. In 1936, Mary Paolucci married Ed Begley, and created what is now known as Paolucci & Begley Grocery.

Mary and Ed had four children, Rosemary, Ed, Joe and Mike. Rosa Paolucci passed away in 1958, leaving the store to Nick, John, and Mary. Mary’s youngest son, Mike Begley, joined the family business in 1970. Mary J. Begley died on October 2, 2000.

In 1983, Mike and his wife Margie opened Paolucci’s Restaurant (formerly Jack’s Café). They have two sons, Ed and Mark. Above the restaurant, the Old Traveler’s Hotel became Paolucci’s Lounge in 1990 and is now run by Ed Begley. Mark Begley is a financial planner in Atchison.

Paolucci’s Restaurant is proud to be celebrating our 30th anniversary in 2013. As you can see, our ties to Atchison go back much further than 30 years, and we hope that they last much longer. We thank you, the people of Atchison, for giving the Paolucci-Begley family the opportunity to be part of this great community.

Great Decor, very helpful, kind and efficient staff. Clean. Ample seating in both lounge and larger room. Ordered their "Classic Italian Meal" on the menu with noodle pasta, 1 Italian sausage and 5 meat balls in a meat sauce at $11.99; pasta overcooked, meats had no taste of olive oil, no taste of garlic, no basil nor oregano added as is typically part of true Italian meat sauce and meats. Salad was good, except usage of Balsamic vinegar with the oil made the dressing too tart. Atmosphere saved me and took the meal home to toss. I would check out their "broasted" chicken and cat fish on the menu. It's worth my going back to try these other 2 menu items or others. My Italian meal was on 8-4-2022. Mgb. Parking: Ample parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Disabled Parking, but not Disabled Access Entry.
Thanks to Snapchat someone posted about this place and it didn't disappoint!! Great food and wonderful service!!!
I went in alone just to relax and enjoy a few drinks but ended up meeting some great people and enjoying my visit even more. Drinks were perfect, service was really great and on point. I love the balcony view and vibes. I'll definitely be back again Parking: Street parking was plentiful but there was also lot parking available
The food downstairs is fantastic, but the service is pretty slow. There's also a simpler bar and lounge menu for upstairs, if you're in party mode, as well as a pool table, dart boards, and digital jukebox that's fun.Food: 4/5
A most unfortunate evening at Paolucci. Water dumped upon my grand-daughter. Very slow service. Forgotten orders. Overly crowded wobbly tables. Little concern for the accident as the toddler reacted much better than you might expect and there was no comment or concern from management.
Food was excellent! The service was beyond courteous and extremely friendly. Beacon wrapped filet was perfect, cut like butter and melt in your mouth; no sauces needs as the seasoned flavor was spot on. Twice baked potato was just the right size to complement. Onion rings for an apitizer was more that I expected, large thick rings in a just right breadcrumb batter.
We were traveling through Abeliene, KS to see the Sallie House. Decided to have lunch at a local establishment in a nice little town. This place has history and has a lot of potential. I think it does need some revamping. It's confusing which door to go in because it has a lounge and restaurant. It's pretty dark inside. Our server was a little slow and was managing 3-4 tables. She could have been new. She was very polite. We ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, which usually comes with marinara. We had to request it after it was brought out. Which was a little soupy. I ordered the cheeseburger meal and it says upon request for lettuce, tomato, pickles, ect. I ordered it with pickles. And I ordered the substitute for chips as a salad with ranch. I was given a salad with ranch. But when the food arrived there were chips, and a pickle spear. No pickles on the burger just cheese. Before we could ask for ketchup and mustard the waitress was gone. We waited again to eat because we were waiting to request something that should have been offered. The food was okay. No signature items and nothing offered as the specials. I hope some improvements can be made and it would be a nice local restaurant to return to. As of now it was just okay. Features: None
I came through this little town for a baseball tournament. Got done with an early morning game and wanted a place for breakfast. This place had good food and friendly staff. My only complaint and what’s keeping this from a 5 star is that the atmosphere is a little dead. There was a lot of decorations but no music. Just sort of empty silence. Other than that, pretty solid place to eat.
Paolucci's is a great restaurant! Their food is always on point regardless if we have needed to get it to take home or ate in house. The staff is always kind and willing to go that extra step for their customers. Overall it's a wonderful establishment that I am certain we will frequent for years to come.
It is a restaurant during the day and sometimes we take our kids with us they play darts and pool and run around and eat while the grown-ups have fun and drink and watch the game and mingle The weekends though not very kid friendly after the restaurant closes, it cracks on the weekends in the summertime mostly but I've had a few in the winter too. some nights May crack more than others but you can have some pretty fun times there.
