Unassuming fabric spot with discount prices. You’ll have to be willing to rummage through the many, many bolts of fabric, but that’s the cost of good prices! They have a variety of laces, cottons, satins, taffetas, eyelets, beaded/embroidered fabric, chiffons, organzas, and more. I walked away with a lovely lavender floral chiffon, a quirky cotton eyelet, and a printed satin. I would say their real speciality is prints, from African wax prints to retro vaporwave, and everything in between. We were assisted by a woman with quite a cheery disposition. She would come to check on us every 10 minutes or so. My friend waffled on one of her purchases, so she negotiated prices with us. Great spot if you’re willing to put some work in.
I love the prices and the fabric selection. I even get notions from there. Mrs. Jennifer is extremely helpful so I urge you to please be patient and wait for her help if you need assistance with something other than getting fabric cut. Otherwise, everyone is pretty cool and cheerful I'm there a lot!. There is absolutely no photography in this store! I will stress, respect goes a long way in this establishment. Check them out. Paradise just might pleasantly surprise you. I've gotten beautiful prints here. Here's one I've recently used for a half circle skirt.
The store has a lot of fabric, but the space is too small for the amount on display. There is a lot of afro centric fabric and the majority of the fabric is reasonably priced. The fabric against the wall is hiding other fabric and bolts of fabric are falling down making it hard to get to what you want. Because there is so much fabric in such a small space, getting around in the store and finding what you want can be extremely challenging and it makes the store look messy. Some of the fabric has been there for years, while other fabric goes quickly. The owner can be passively aggressive in his comments to you when you leave if you don't find what you what. Also the owner will start cutting your fabric, but will stop to help another customer that is either from his country or someone he knows. After he has helped them, then he comes back to continue helping you. The experience in this store can be very disappointing because of the attitude of the owner and the dirty look of the store. After getting fabric from this store for over 15 years, I WILL NOT buy anything from this store again. THIS IS AN UPDATE TO A POST MADE 3 YEARS AGO. The store is still packed with fabric, but the owner's wife has taken over since the owner passed away in February 2023. The wife and family are very nice and it seems they are trying to slowly organize the store for a better customer experience. I am shopping here again because there are no more rude remarks or behavior from the owner.
If you are looking for culturally divest fabric, jewelry, and some beautifully made culturally significant clothing this is a place.
Large variety of fabrics from several African countries. Well worth the visit. Nice prices.
I love this Fabric store, they have everything and prices are great! I wish they could organize the fabrics better though
I have been a customer for several years thru thick and thin. Even when I get poor customer service and constant nagging and complaining from the owner. The family that runs the store seems nice. Exception...the older man. There's no other place in the DMV area that sells the caliber and amount of diversified fabrics and at a very reasonable price. Love the choices. However, poor attitudes and bad customer service from the older man, cutting fabric short, harassment while looking thru the selection etc is no longer worth the savings or the long distance I drive to get there to be treated rude. Today will be my last time shopping there. Everyone has a breaking point.
Wow! I actually went to this store after 3 years of not going because of that demon possessed old man. And he was still there, but he was very nice. I was shocked! He was smiling, saying nice things and courteous. He even gave me a discount card for my next visit. The Lord has answered prayers. I don’t know what happened to him… but he is a changed man.
I love this store. The mom and pop feel of it just makes it feel so special. She has so many beautiful fabrics for all occasions. Weddings, festivals, all sorts of cultural activities. If you are looking for a lavish fabric store with a plush interior, this is not the place however the experience is like you are walking into a Morocco souk or medina market. Go and give it a try. She also has lots of exotic butters, oils, incense and costume jewelry for great prices. Check her out. Don't knock it until you try it.
Great fabrics here! I found exactly what I was looking for! The daughters working here are very smart and patient. One of the beautiful girls worked with me to match up fabrics to ensure my lining and sequence fabric meshed well together. The prices were decent and I could easily get around the store for the most part to look at their abundant array of fabrics. I am happy with my purchase!
