The Paris Street Girl’s Teen Center was established 16 years ago. Our mission has been to provide our girls with a positive environment to promote education, healthy lifestyles, physical fitness, and positive self-esteem. We strive to decrease risk factors as they impact the girls by increasing academic skills and social skills. We offer the girls a program where they can find information on health, sexuality, and violence prevention in a comfortable atmosphere.
Our program has a very special atmosphere to it and we believe it is because we provide out girls with a “big-sister” environment. We take an interest in their lives, troubles, and their dreams. We hope that each girls walks away with the understanding that she always has a place to turn to.
Our after-school program runs from September-June, Monday-Friday. Our program is open Monday-Friday 1:00pm-5:30pm. Our program consists of various daily activities after 4:00pm. All of our staff are their to help children with any homework help, project help, and study help. Homework is enforced until 4:00pm. After 4:00pm we have various daily activities. Arts and crafts, dance, kick-ball, movies, and a health course we call “Teen Voices” are just a few activities that go on here at the center. In the summer, our program has been known to be the most fun. Our summer program consists of various daily activities and trips. We also hold a weekly theme day, in which we stay at Paris St. Community Center. We have weekly bus trips planned such as Canobie Lake Park, Water Country, and The Animal Kingdom in York Maine. Also, at the end of the year we have an overnight trip to Old Orchard Beach which is like a big end of the year party for all of the Girls Teen Center.
