The cornerstone of our life together is worship. We have a time of fellowship, music, scripture and prayer. We find challenge in scripture-based sermons that point to relevance in today's world.
Wednesday Evening Service
6:30 p.m.
Wednesday Night worship provides a relaxed, friendly service with time to mingle afterward. It also provides some different worship opportunities - health and healing service, Taize service, faith sharing, as well as Communion once a month. Our music is always full of energy and ranges from old favorites to contemporary songs. Bring your guitar or drums and play with us!
We at Park Church want to act as God’s hands in both the heart of Streator and in our world-wide community. We strive to share our message of faith and to make a difference for Christ through our ministries of worship, mission, and education.
Through the stately oaks of the city park, Park Church stands as a place where one may receive God’s grace, mercy and peace. We hear the word of God and take action. For the past 150 years, our congregation has been reaching out locally, nationally and internationally. As dreamers and doers, we have been involved in many worthwhile projects.
The essence of our spirituality comes from helping others. Over 20% of our annual budget is dedicated to missions. We have annual appeals for PCUSA One Great Hour of Sharing and Christmas Joy Offering; as well as the Church World Service Tools and Blankets Program . We send financial aid to four missionaries on other continents. Our Habitat for Humanity financial support helps nationally, and our individuals who volunteer to use a hammer or plant a bush at a new home help locally. We offer Equal Exchange Fair Trade products for sale to our congregation. This democratically organized, worker-owned cooperative enables farmers in Latin America, Africa, and Asia to sell their products at a fair price and receive fair compensation.
The Board of Deacons ministers to the needs in the community be it paying a medical bill or heating bill for someone in need. Our Food Ministry provides meals to shut-ins; our collection of mittens for local school kids provides warm hands. We took a Mission trip to the Mississippi Gulf area to help rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. We actively listen for the call.
Our church has hosted various events such as concerts for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and "Light Up Streator" Marketplace. Park Church is well known in the community for its hospitality.
