I stopped by one day to set up a tour for my mom and became part of the family. Julia gave us a tour the same day. My mom moved in 3 weeks later and it’s been the greatest experience ever. My mom is happy here and she’s made friends!!
Visited in December for my mom who is moving from Texas. We arranged a tour with Julia just before holidays. The lobby was decorated with a big gorgeous Christmas tree and throughout the building was decor for the season. We are not easily pleased and really were worried about the process of getting into just the right place. Knowing that no place is going to be perfect, we ultimately decided on Bonaventure and aren’t disappointed in the least. The apt was recently painted and new carpeting installed. Everything seems clean and maintenance was working to install new closet shelves. We like that everything we wanted was included in the price of monthly rent. If mom needs to convert to assisted living, she can stay in same apt and services will be upgraded at a higher cost but at least she’ll be in same place. Everyone we encountered was friendly and said they liked living there and had made good friends in short time. Julia was our tour guide and showed us a lounge area where they have happy hours, sewing room complete with drawers of fabrics, tv room for watching on big screens with popcorn machine, game/puzzle room, crafting room, library, private dining rooms plus beautiful back patio. The restaurant or cafe treated everyone like fine dining restaurant. Busy during bfast & dinner but it’s my understanding that can take either meal in her room as she chooses. We are almost ready to move mom into her new place and she’s very excited. Julia has gone above and beyond by returning the many texts and questions, she is very cheerful and genuinely seems to care about the residents. We have had a very positive experience so far. If there are any glaring concerns I feel like we’d know quickly. Everyone we met is very open and willing to share their experiences. If mom wants to cocoon in her place that is fine too. No pressure at all to participate in activities but they have them daily. Will take pics and post before and after move-in.
My mother in law lives in one of the independent living apartments and the facility has failed to provide the promised perks of living here. She hasn't been provided with any housekeeping services, she's asked maintenance to replace some light bulbs for her for months with no assistance, and the facility has failed to provide her with any way to get mail delivered. They keep saying they don't have a key for the mailbox and they aren't providing her with other options. I believe that legally they are required to provide her with a way to get her mail delivered which includes medications and medical supplies. The amount they charge for all these services and do not provide the services is atrocious. They are taking advantage of a vulnerable population.
Park Vista by Bonaventure in Port Orchard, Washington is an amazing facility. The staff is eager to assist. I would like to specifically acknowledge the memory care department. Debbie, Aubrey and the entire staff have been exceptional in the way they take care of my mother. My mother, who has dementia, was at another facility, and was rapidly decreasing mentally and physically. My family was in a constant state of worry. Since we moved her to Park Vista, she has made a dramatic turn for the better. Debbie and her staff offer a unique environment that caters to the specific needs of each resident. We are extremely thankful for the job they do.
Wanted to take a moment say that this place is amazing. We recently moved my father into the Assisted Living side of Park Vista in Port Orchard. From the first day, the entire staff embraced him. What's unique, is that everyone takes the time to develop their own special relationship with each of the residents. My father is a tough cookie to please, and he loves everyone here. The management team really goes above and beyond by consistently keeping me updated with any particular needs or requests that I may have. Thanks to park Vista for taking exceptional care of my loved ones!
I have had the pleasure of working at Park Vista for 2 years now, starting out as a receptionist then moving into the most exciting job I've ever had - an Activity Director. I've learned a lot from the administrators/staff around me and truly feel like we are one big family. As an employee there is SO much opportunity for growth within the company, Bonaventure prides themselves on bettering the education and lives of us all, making it easy to keep up with this ever changing industry. When it comes to the residents, the are all quite happy and at home. The staff know every residents name, pay attention to their needs and are always finding ways to make them smile. This place couldn't be successful without the genuine love and attention the care staff provide these residents. I'm proud to be a part of the Park Vista Family.
Park Vista is attractive. Staff are mostly nice. However they are frequently understaffed. If an individual is in an apartment and does not require assistance, then they are great. However, if someone is in need of assisted living, there are greater challenges in this area. We had to move our friend out of Park Vista because they said that they could only check on her at the beginning and end of a shift 8 hrs inbetween. Frequently, items in her care plan were not followed, like bathing. They are fine if a person requires minimal assistance.
The owners of Bonaventure are an absolute nightmare and treat their staff on all levels like slaves. The employees who aren't upper management have to fight for weekends off and even religious holidays. When an employee becomes sick they still require them to come in when they know full well that it will put the elderly at risk of becoming very ill. Bonaventure also dose not supply their staff with ample funds to support their events they put on year round, to combat this the staff has to put the money they earn back into the company on their own time to supply their residents a decent event. And lastly, this company treats their elder residents like children. Becoming easily irritated and upset towards them. When asked to take pictures of them during events the elderly will ask not to have their picture taken, but the activities director will take their picture anyways. Even going as far as forcefully guiding them back to their seat. I have even seen with my own eyes a staff member dragging a resident along against their will to an even just to fill in seats. This company and the owners of it are the worst company I've seen in many years. I would highly recommend not to bring your families here. They will not be safe.
My uncle Teddy brought his mom, Thelma here this past summer. When I came to visit I was blown away at how friendly the staff was and how delicious the food is. Brent the server was fantastic in his diligence for making sure her tomato juice was never empty. Christina who runs it was very attentive and detail oriented at getting Thelma moved in and comfortable. Whenever I go in there I feel like she is everywhere at once! Thelma got a perm at the in-house beauty salon, probably her best ever.
I have had the pleasure of working at Park Vista fir the past two and a half years. The residents are some of the warmest and kindest people I have met. They have activities for all different personalities; the residents encourage each other as well as the staff.
