The 968-acre Parker Dam State Park offers old-fashioned charm and character. A scenic lake, rustic cabins, quaint campground and unbounded forest make Parker Dam an ideal spot for a relaxing vacation. For wilderness explorers, Parker Dam is a gateway to the vast expanses of Moshannon State Forest. You can walk through recovering tornado ravaged woods, backpack into the 50,000-acre Quehanna Wilderness, mountain bike to your heart’s content or enjoy quiet solitude searching for elusive Pennsylvania elk.

The primary purpose of Pennsylvania state parks is to provide
opportunities for enjoying healthful outdoor recreation and serve as
outdoor classrooms for environmental education.
Parker Dam State Park offers a day use area that includes 7 reservable pavilions, plenty of picnic areas, a sand beach and swimming area, a beach house with restrooms and showers, and access to nearly 17 miles of park trails. The park is also a western trailhead for the Quehanna Trail (managed by Moshannon State Forest- District 9), a 73-mile backcountry loop, plus its additional connecting trails. The park's modern campground has 110 sites for both tent and camper camping, including many with electric, and a loop of pet-friendly sites. The park also has 16 rustic cabins, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's, that are open year-round. The park also provides year-round environmental education, interpretation, and recreational programs for park visitors and the community.
