Parkridge is a recreational and educational programming center for Ypsilanti residents. The center is designed to actively involve youth and families in safe, positive, and structured activities.
Parkridge Community Center is a non-profit 501c3 organization located in Washtenaw County in the City of Ypsilantii. Parkridge Community Center is housed in a 7,000 sq. ft. revitalized building that offers a wide range of programs and services for community residents of all ages.
The center is designed to actively involve youth in safe, positive, and structured activities after school and during critical gaps between school and academic terms. Parkridge Community Center was built in 1943. Today it houses a gymnasium and several multi-purpose rooms that provide space for a library/resource center, a small food prep area, exercise equipment, and computers. A 1981 addition supports a window-filled community meeting room, game area, and office space.
The center strives to focus on education, health, self-development, active living choices, leadership and empowerment, social development recreation and more. The Center has been the heart and soul of Ypsilanti's African-American community for 65 years. It has served as a major institution for the city's predominantly south side.
The Mission of Parkridge Community Center is to enhance the quality of life for Ypsilanti's residents by supporting children, youth and families through a wide range of programs and services.
