I'll go straight to the point this time. Dinner was almost empty so good because I didn't have to wait to be seated. The food I ordered, first one my friend order the teriyaki chicken wrap, which looked and tasted very dry we both thought since it was "teriyaki " it would have at least the proper "teriyaki " flavor". I asked for a Philly-cheese steak sandwich and the steak was awful no taste they forgot to add the onions which in my opinion is the special flavor touch for a Philly cheese sandwich the grilled onions mix with the steak. I told the waitress and instead of fixing or re-doing my sandwich they just brought me some onions on a little plate. Again in my opinion the Philly cheese steak has to be cooked on the grill mix with the onions so it could absorb the flavor and give flavor to complete the sandwich. Sorry but the food was 1- star.
Came here on Christmas day for a very late breakfast/lunch. Before heading there, we looked at the reviews and were a little concerned to go since some reviews mentioned that their prices were pretty high. We took a chance anyway since the places that we usually go to were closed. The service was OK but the food was even better. The prices are very typical to what you will find now in any diner in the area and they have a good variety of options for any palette. The coffee was good and strong. Not watered down in any way which is a big plus. We ordered, pancakes to share, Eggs Benedict, and a Hickory burger with curly fries. The pancakes were nice and fluffy. The Eggs Benedict was good. They were not the best, but it did not disappoint. The burger was delicious. I appreciated the canadian bacon. The lettuce was nice and fresh. In all we had a pleasant meal at a decent price. We would definitely come back to explore different menu options. Parking: Alot of parking Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly menu
Going to be honest. We ordered for 4 or 5 people. I decided to get chicken fingers and play it safe. How can a working restaurant mess up chicken fingers? After my first bite I threw the chicken finger in the trash and offered the rest to anyone who wants them or the trash... Chicken inside wasn't fully cooked and they were actually soggy.... Then I tried some of my dads onion rings... Soggy and falling apart as I picked one up. Then the grilled Cheese.. Cheese was overcooked and hard in the corners... Chicken fingers, onion rings, and grilled cheese to name some of the dishes... were so horrible we threw it out. The soup was 6 out of 10. Too salty, but I'm trying to be generous. Don't go here. Make yourself a PBJ or eat prepackaged meals from the grocery store. Spare yourself. Or just don't get the most simple things on the menu chicken fingers, onion rings, grilled cheese. Good luck with the more complex dishes.
You should definitely try this menu. I will be back for thisFood: 5/5
Stopped here for dinner. Good food, service and atmosphere. I used to live nearby but don't remember every trying this place. Glad I finally did. I had the Lobster bisque and a cheeseburger with cheese fries. Yum.
Haven’t been there tor a while and realized I would never go back. There were flies everywhere. I took a bite of my food and it was horrible. The roast beef has gone bad. You would think the waitress would ask if something is wrong since I wouldn’t eat it or pack it up. Had to ask for things like silverware, condiments and other stuff. My daughter food was over cooked and hard. I don’t complain while I’m there because who knows what I’ll get if sent back. The Mayo I was given was actually butter and it was used with crumbs in it.. wow never again
My wife and I took another couple for Sunday breakfast. There were barely any tables taken at 11 am so we were seated right away. I had been to this diner several times in the past and normally there's not wait but, on this day, it was slower than any other day I ever been. 1st thing I noticed was the waiter's presentation. She looked like she has just rolled out of bed. One of our coffee cups had lipstick, we had to have her take it back. we all ordered breakfast, the home potatoes were so overcooked, none of us ate it, but the most annoying thing was the flies. We had to keep swatting them away. After we finished eating, nobody came to clear the dishes, I had to get up from my chair to get someone to come and clear out table so the flies can go away and at least had a little conversation while finishing our coffee. I'm hoping this review gets someone attention, or else they will lose the little clientele they have left.
What a disgrace some of these reviewers are! Came here for breakfast while my truck was being worked on almost didn’t because of the reviews, but decided to give the place a chance. Very glad I did classic NJ diner atmosphere and the food was good. Being honest I only got breakfast so I can only judge based on that but the food was good and the portions were large. The best thing was the service! The staff were incredibly kind and punctual. Nothing makes me more furious then aa nice spot getting unjust bad reviews! This place is as solid as any neighborhood diner go and enjoy yourself! Kid-friendliness: Seems as kid friendly as any non themed restaurant Wheelchair accessibility: Definitely a ramp for a wheelchair
The food overall was good. We got the sampler platter. We weren’t the happiest with the mozz sticks but surprisingly the calamari was pretty good. The chicken fingers were delicious and the buffalo wings were decent. Our waiter wasn’t the warmest, but we had a waiter a few weeks ago international and was SUPER KIND! So I guess it depends on the day you go. Price was standard considering the prices of everything are slowly rising. Overall, not a bad experience just a nice quick rest place.
My visit to Elmwood Park Diner was beyond disappointing, to say the least. This place gotten worst since change of ownership. The unwelcoming atmosphere, average food, two eggs breakfast looked like one egg, decor looked outdated, overworked staff, and the worst they try to cheat me out of my change, needed to ask for it. People are not too friendly, all they want is your money, don't care about the service. I hope they take customer feedback seriously and work on improving their service. I would not recommend this diner to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience. These people are still in business because it's the few diners that are opened 24 hours. Go to Elmwood Park diner good service and food or some other diner instead.
