Service is very slow here ,I ordered dressing and got cornbread stuffing, and it looked like scrambled eggs. I’ve eaten here twice and I have to force it down and eventually just throw it away. Nice and respectful people. I ordered smothered chicken but it’s just brown gravy over rice rice wasn’t fully cooked Food: 2/5
Always wanted to try the restaurant for the longest but I always thought it was closed until I saw the new landscape around it. I just came to order a side of green beans only to end up getting 4 piece wing dinner. It comes with 2 sides, hot water cornbread plus a complimentary side of rice and gravy.I also received a free can soda for trying them for the first time. Honest review- the chicken had great flavor but it was a tad bit salty. Wish the coating on chicken was better however like I said the flavor was there. The green beans w/ potatoes was good, can’t go wrong on that. The hot water cornbread does have some sweetness to it. The complimentary rice and gravy I didn’t care for due to the fact the gravy had a burnt flavor. I did go close to closing not saying it’s acceptable, but I do give second chances so I will go back to try something different and be back for another review
Ordered smothered steak and pork chops. Chops were chewy. Rice underneath was crunchy, not done. Greens were not flavorable at all. Mashed potatoes had a sour taste to them. Had caramel cake and it was excellent.Food: 1/5
First time eating at pass the peas was in the mood for soul food. I didn’t eat all day just some fruit for breakfast so this was my first meal. Everything looked fine besides the smell of the fish it was strong odor I ordered tilapia but the order smelled like catfish. Shortly after consuming the food my stomach started to bothered me I took some gas x. Some more time went pass and I started throwing up continuously the vomit looked gross concerning. This definitely came from eating at pass the peas I dill not be returning it recommended this place to anyone
It did not make me happy. I was craving salmon croquettes. There was really no salmon, just breading. The dressing tasted old. It was horrible! The macaroni didn’t taste like anything Rice and gravy was ok I let my mom taste it and she agreed. She spit it out actually.
I didn’t eat anything all day this is an important factor. Pass the peas was my first meal outside of fruit for breakfast. After consuming the food my stomach started to hurt but I was thinking maybe I took to king to eat for the day but then it started to hurt more so I took a gas x pill thinking maybe I have gas but as time went on I started throwing up liquid form vomit non stop . I took a break from vomiting it was so gross looking I almost took an image to share with a health care professional it was gross but I didn’t. I missed worked because of being fed old rotten something was wrong with that meal. I should have known because we ordered tilapia and it had a very foul odor as if it was cat fish . Tilapia is not strong smelling
Update: I have visited several times as the is my weekly take out favorite restaurant. Food is always excellent! Prices went up which can be expected as prices on everything have increased but they are still extremely reasonable. Love the BBQ Beef tips. Smothered Steak and Pork Chops, all the sides are excellent and home made! Don't sleep on the freshly made mash potatoes or green beans w/potatoes, yummy.. I also love their desserts; made by their inhouse Baker, the best caramel cake, banana pudding cake, peach cobbler cake based, pineapple coconut cake, German chocolate cake, and the best homemade banana pudding in the state! They have other desserts but these are the only ones we have tried.. They also started serving freshly made koolaid, lemonade and ice tea. All right Pass da Peas, don't hurt us now, I have put on 5 lbs messing with you all lol, just kidding. Keep up the good work, love the staff, Courtney and Lateefah, plus all the others! The owner and his wife are friendly, caring and staples in our neighborhood! Thanks much, keep up the good work! My family and friends love Pass da Peas you can tell by my long post, I am hungry! I'll post a new menu when I pick one up. Old Review: The restaurant was busy, however when we got the order, the food was fresh, well prepared and delicious. I could tell by the number of customers that were in line that they loved the food, as many stated they had been there before. The lady who took my order was patient and friendly, very different than some of the other "Soul Food " restaurants I've been to. I ordered Mac and cheese, greens, yams and smothered pork chops. My husband had the smothered steak, fried corn and mashed potatoes. My daughter had the catfish, fried cabbage and black eyed peas. All came with rice and gravy, and hot water cornbread that was freshly made. We also ordered banana pudding, peach cobbler and sweet potato pie and loved it all. Be prepared to wait as I was told the food is cooked to order, it's definitely worth it! I will be back. This is my new favorite restaurant!
Wife got sick immediately after eating! First meal of the day other than fruit. Chicken, Mac & cheese, and yams. Not sure which food it was but it wasn’t good!
Great food. Service is slow but worth the wait if you have time.Food: 5/5
I am at a lost for words! The food is pretty and the food is worth every fork lift!! The food was hot and edible, the food reminded me of grandma’s house. Thank you, we need more soul to the food in other places but this place has the soul We appreciate hard working people like you guys, because who will cook and have all the items near closing like you guys!!
