I used to love coming here as a kid, but it is not the same as it used to be. The service is really slow, takes close to an hour to get your food. It’s not traditional Mexican food, definitely a really Americanized version. The chips and dip are pretty good, and the thing I like to get from here. The menu is smaller than it used to be. Drinks are served in a can, no refills. The overall price is pretty low compared to what I am used to in larger cities. Things are not the same since the old manager/waitress Karen left. Don’t really plan to visit this place anymore when I am back in town.
This NOT Mexican food, NOT cuisine, please do not disrespect what Mexican food is. Only flavor the “chicken enchiladas” had was the burnt something on the plate, absolutely disgusting. but if you’re looking for premixed margaritas or beer and get plastered then you just might enjoy the food here. Not me, I’ll never go back to pay $20 for something that looks and tastes like a four year old threw together.
This place was great. Food was good but the service and atmosphere was great. It was like eating in your mom's kitchen. Don't go if you're in a rush it's worth it to take the time and enjoy the surroundings
This place used to be better. It was never fast, but it was something you accepted, because the food was good. It’s a local bar with quirky food that has a lot of character. But tonight left me feeling extremely disappointed. We came in right at open, our waitress was excellent, but we left after an hour and a half, without getting the main part of our order. It’s one thing to wait a while; they don’t have a huge staff, this isn’t a major city. If you like this place, you know the deal. But we watched as two tables who had their orders taken after us had their food brought to them. Our waitress, who have no reason to doubt, she was very attentive, assured us she put our order in ahead of a large group that had been seated after us, and comped what we had ordered before we left. We’ve been coming here or getting food to go for years, we won’t be going back and definitely can’t recommend it anymore.
Been A HAPPY CUSTOMER FOR 40 YEARS!!! ALWAYS THE BEST AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD IVE EVER EATEN!!!Food: 5/5
Mistake to go here. If I was Mexican I’d be upset with the food. The recommendation can after about an hour, Luke warm.Food: 1/5
Great affordable meals in a comfortable unique “hole in the wall” type restaurant. They do not have the fastest service as it is small, but they do have the BEST service I have ever had. Very friendly, impressionable, feels like you’re being served by a family member or good friend Kate and Rosie are some of the nicest people I’ve met since my recent move to Mason City : I anticipate many more visits here in the future.
I don't know if it's as it was when I was a younger kid, but I always loved being here. The food was always good and the staff were incredibly friendly and loving. It was always a nice experience.Food: 5/5
Small local bar and Mexican food. Friendly staff and clean facilities. Great place to get a grain belt or other beer while enjoying homemade chips. Not a lot of seating but if you have to, it's worth the wait for a table. This place has been a Mason city staple for over 60 years. Good to see places stay in business.
So we waited for a good hour, or more, for our food but that seems to be a part of the experience. Good food, great value. The chips are unique and can't be skipped. The cheese sauce is delicious. You can tell it's a total locals place. Service is casual and fun. The candy bowl on the way out is exciting for kids... Even adult kids.
