I up cycle clothing, curtains, blankets, and whatever else into one of a kind wearable art. I am inspired by KATWISE, IVKO, and SCA.
As a child in the 70's, I horrified my mother by digging through the trash to salvage boxes and whatever else to make things. I made things and took them to craft shows with my grandmother, who made quilts. In the 80's, I started sewing and my first creations were disasters, but I kept on trying. My family despaired of me ever looking normal as I loved unique strange clothing. I started chopping up used clothing to make costumes and other creations for my children in the early 90's. My kids loved medieval styles and SCA so I churned out a lot of cloaks and elf hoods. My family and friends were very used to me parading around in anachronistic clothing. So when I spotted a "Katwise" sweater coat a few years ago, I was greatly intrigued. I had always chopped apart clothing, curtains, sheets, and old prom dresses to create with, but had not attempted sweater dissection. I bought a tunic from her and her tutorials, which can be found on Etsy. I bought a serger and almost lost my mind trying to adjust the tension on it. Katwise was a huge inspiration to me as well as the internet where so many people share their wondrous ideas of how to upcycle. All these wonderful people around the world have influenced my designs and I am thankful to all who have shared their creativity.
