I was going to pass up giving a review on this place at first because I figured it was permanently closed for business, but as I got closer I noticed this business has Christmas decor throughout the inside, so I changed my mind. This place looks like it once could have been the centerpiece of the neighborhood but as you can tell from the images that is not the case. Anyone walking under this sign is in danger of falling sheet metal or whatever that piece of metal is hanging on by a limb. They have it tied up with some type of rope but I’m sure that’s not how that’s suppose to be done. The building is in need of some desperate rehab and I believe it poses a danger to pedestrians as the sidewalk IS NOT blocked off.
I recently took my daughter and friends here to see Ken Carson. They all enjoyed the show. I love the old but vintage look of the theater. The only complaint I have is there was no air conditioning. It had to be 95 degrees in there and the bathrooms are all the way in the basement. Other than that the staff and owner were really cool. The no air condition and the bathroom location is the only reason I gave it 4 stars.
Came here to see a group I love, and they were incredible as I had expected. I did though recently find out the group I went to go see still has not been paid despite being a sold out show. Not only was this place borderline creepy, but it felt almost gross. It’s dirty, smells, the staff is not the greatest either. The stairs are steep and uneven making them SUPER dangerous. I think construction is going on but you can’t fully tell? I would not go back here.
What this venue lacks in modern amenities, it makes up for in charm. Came here for a metal concert Avantasia. I loved the seating arrangement. General admission had seats, and the floor is sloped, so you're a little higher than the people in front of you. The bathrooms could use some serious updates, but they were serviceable. Staff was friendly and got everyone in quickly. Venue is right on the bus line, too, making it convenient to get to.
Fantastic experience watching Pink Floyd. Still harbors all of the old decorum, that frequencers of the patio theater back in the day will remember. Longstanding theater, and they had enough refreshments at reasonable prices. Mine was a bit wonky and not uniform and they use fold down seating on the main floor. But if you don't mind roughing it it was an absolutely enjoyable experience.
A decent venue without a single bad view. Being a smaller stage and floor, you can see the performers pretty well from anywhere. I thought the sound system could use some refinement for clarity, and the bathrooms could use some work. There's definitely a nice charm to the venue and I wouldn't hesitate to go again for another show.
New owners and staff are very nice , sad that the old owner, Eddie C. Took out seats in front of the theater ,very sad.
Great historical Chicago venue that 1st opened in 1926. They sometimes show movies for free. Also if you live close be sure to check out the calendar to see who is performing. One day while driving past and September 2018 I seen that bone thugs and harmony was on the marquee. I made plans to go right away and I am sure glad I did
Went to a show at this venue 5 months ago. Just found out that the company that put on the show still has not been paid by Patio theater. The show was full but the entertains have not been compensated. ****If you are considering booking a show here please think twice****
Old but nice theater good for concerts and movies. Around 1300 mixed capacity; seats and standing. Same level bleecher-like balcony seats in the back. I would give more stars, however there is no heat or AC at this time. Has a flown sound system Nexo GeoT with Camco amps. FOH and monitor boards on site. Nexo PS15 monitors. No lighting or backline. You can get it from the local production company Liquitt.us
