OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Paws & Remember's mission is to provide grief support and memorialization to pet owners through our network of Paws & Remember professionals. We strive to be the most trusted and recognized brand in the pet memorialization industry.

HISTORY OF PAWS & REMEMBER
In 1978, Mark Minnick purchased the Fort Wayne Wilbert Vault Company in Uniondale, Indiana, and began to diversify three years later. As a manufacturer of burial vaults, Mark understood that the growing rate of human cremation would put downward pressure on his core business. As a result, Mark purchased his first retort for the cremation of human remains in 1992 to begin servicing the needs of this growing segment of deathcare.

When Alice Minnick’s cat died in 1998, she looked for a special way to memorialize her beloved pet. It was a natural search for her as she and her husband had served the Indiana funeral industry for nearly 20 years.

Specifically, she wanted to have the brown-and-black Sativa cremated. But Minnick, who did not live in the Fort Wayne area at the time, could not find a way to do so, which left her feeling empty-hearted.

That disappointment led the Minnick’s to create their own pet cremation and memorialization business and so is the genesis of Paws & Remember.

Since its inception, the Paws & Remember business in Indiana has seen tremendous growth. With the funeral service industry background, Paws & Remember in Indiana helped their customrs understand the grief support benefits that can be gained through memorializing a cherished pet at the time of loss. Pet owners and veterinarians alike saw this as a point of differentiation. To date, Paws & Remember now serves 130 veterinarian offices and humane agencies in Fort Wayne and throughout Indiana.

With the success in Indiana, Minnick determined that a nationally recognized brand in pet cremation and memorialization could bring awareness to consumers on both the availability and the benefits of these types of products and services at the time of pet loss.

In the fall of 2006, Paws & Remember, LLC was formed for the purpose of developing that national franchise system. Today there are thirteen franchised Paws & Remember locations across the United State.

The mission of grief support through memorialization remains the same today for the franchise system as it was almost 20 years ago.
